I knew this was going to be one "yell" of a day with the number of duties I had to attend to, along with criss-crossing our City to make various appointments on time. Of course one of the key players was late, which in turn made me race all the more to get to the another's.
While on the phone with a colleague today, I couldn't help mentioning ho … continue reading

A Friend in Need is A Friend
From the time our sun broke on the horizon, I found myself busied with more little to-do's which I had scheduled for this weekend, so once I finished up with my extended contemplative prayer session, I immersed myself with those little projects. I'm sure you've made the correct assumption why my session was longer, because I did spend extra prayerf … continue reading

Shoulders Strong Against Putin’s Forces
Most of my day was filled with various duties associated with some of my own catching-up of personal chores which were falling behind, along with meeting several buyers on a particular property. By the time I was finished showing it, I finally said to the husband and wife who seemed to be at odds, "Now look. I'm not trying to shove this home down y … continue reading

Plugged-into the Happenings
There was a heavier dusting of snow than I was expecting this morning, but at least I did have time to get it all shoveled before my full day began. At least the sun was shining and the wind wasn't blowing which made it more enduring.
My first closing started just after the opening hour at one of our local banks, and as expected, all went as smo … continue reading

His Only Regrettable Option
Well, as of today, it's looking like the world we live in has taken a turn for the worst with that devil Putin having ordered a full-scale invasion of Ukraine. With a major authoritarian having made such a bold move, it won't surprise me if Xi of China follows suit with an all-out storming of Taiwan.
I will likely go to my grave wondering what a … continue reading

The Biggest Geo-political Threat
As we're rapidly skating thru the last days of February, it looks like Mother Nature wants to remind us she's still in absolute control. It sounds like we may be getting some additional snow tomorrow but hopefully it'll be another light dusting.
My entire day was spent working on and off with closing files for the end of this week and into next, … continue reading

Man is the Only Animal
Just as soon as I pulled out of my driveway this morning, my windshield started getting splattered with a light sleet which caused a struggle to keep it cleared enough so I could safely drive to work. I pulled off on a side street, turned my heater on high defrost, and waited until enough of it had melted so my visibility was no longer impaired. Th … continue reading

Blanche and Freeze for Later
For whatever reason, I thought it was supposed to start snowing somewhere around mid-afternoon, but even at this hour, there's not been a flurry. Each time I was outdoors in that very damp wind, I could smell a hint of snow, so we're likely going to be shoveling tomorrow morning. Let's hope it isn't any more than the one to three inches.
After g … continue reading

In Possession of Very Forked Tongues
Our day started out a bit windy and cold, but as the hours passed, it began to slow which helped to bring out temps up to near 50 degrees today. Oh for goodness sakes, the potholes and puddles of water accumulating at the intersections and curbsides, made for a bit of dodging while driving.
My first order of the day, was to get back to the littl … continue reading

Worst North Iowa Winter
Of course the wind had to be back at it again today, and now coming from the south which is why we're supposed to be well-above freezing tomorrow. While on the phone with a colleague this morning, I insisted that over all these long years of living in North Iowa, I can't remember a winter having so many windy days. I'm sure it all has to do with th … continue reading
