I spent over three hours in Mitchell today listing an in town acreage which I’m confident will sell because it is on a hard surface road and sits on an acre of land that backs up to the countryside. The home was built in 1872 but has a completely updated interior. What would make this home appealing to nearly everyone is that there is a bedroom, a full bath and laundry on the main floor. There are two more bedrooms upstairs. It has a double garage as well as a single garage plus several storage sheds. The next door neighbor has a pony, chickens and geese. Oh how that brings back memories. It has a deep well, and updated septic tank and most of all, it’s on natural rather than LP gas. Now back to the town of Mitchell. I have been there other times regarding real estate matters and I can say each time I’m there I keep telling myself I should visit more often. I think the population is only about 120 but the scenery and views on and around the Cedar River make up for the lack of commerce. The hydroelectric dam was going gangbusters today with the water flow. I hope sometime soon everyone who is looking for a day’s get away will take time to explore Mitchell. It’s just a little over a half hour drive from Mason City and I can say you’ll find something there that will give you delightful memories.
It surprises me that more people in North Iowa don’t have small weekend cottages there so they can spend time exploring the Cedar River. Don’t take my word for it; go and discover its natural beauties for yourselves. It truly is a hidden gem worth polishing.
