Another early up and out happened again today with my shortly after dawn drive over to my listing at 1153 Eastmoor Drive to pick up my yard sign and remove the lockbox off its front door. I was a bit shaken when discovering the selling agent who was with the buyer to do their final walk-thru last night, didn’t secure the front door, and in these times, leaving a front door unlock on a vacant home in just about any of our neighborhoods, is asking for trouble. Yes, we all make mistakes, which is why yours truly is almost always re-checking to make sure all exterior doors are locked on homes before driving off.
Our closing went as well as expected, but was a bit shocked at the apparent young age of the buyer who must’ve been saving his pennies for a very long time. Good for him, along with all those who prioritize their expenditures, along with making long-term plans for their futures. Yes, we have far too many who’re credit card and auto loan poor, along with struggling to make ends meet while living in their ticky-tacky apartment buildings which we already have far too many in our community, and to think they’re now wanting to build another 53 unit three-storied apartment house out on the southwest side of our city. I swear there must be some deep-pocketed investors who’re funding those built-outs, and really don’t give a shite if they’ll be giving any return on equity. I wasn’t a bit surprised when recently seeing that first group of apartments which was built just south of the mall, already showing signs of a cheaply-built apartment complex. From what I’ve been told, it’s already a revolving door with move-ins and move-outs. Gosh, sometimes I really do hate it when I end up being spot-on with my predictions.
After I had all my errands run, I pretty much stayed put in my office and out of those wickedly strong winds which had picked up enough soil particles to where the sky was appearing gray. Yes, I noticed some pretty big fallen limbs as I was later driving out to the East Hy-Vee where I managed to pick up several really good in-store buys which I sent to the freezer after arriving home. As I’ve said more than once, we must be more diligent when checking for those specials. I shake my head every time I see a young couple going down aisles who’re grabbing and throwing foodstuffs in their shopping carts without checking or comparing prices. I did recently read when frozen pizzas are becoming more popular over those ready-to-eat ones people are ordering from places like Domino’s. Yes, in the coming months, our general public is definitely gonna start feeling the effects of all the tariffs our POTUS so thoughtlessly imposed.
I was delighted to find a return email from an old familiar whom I’d not seen or spoken to in years, and for whatever reason, he must’ve completely buried himself in his work for decades. I did send a follow-up, just to fill him in on a few other facts, as well as acknowledging the email he sent. Yes, it’s always good to let people know the emails you’ve been sent, were received and read. Believe me, that’s another dirty habit which is becoming more commonplace in our society.
Fortunately one of the contractors I called earlier this week, agreed to meet up with me early tomorrow morning, so perhaps I’ll be able to get that job completed sooner than I was expecting, and for sure, I’ve been reminding myself even more this season, that our pleasant months are short-lived. I’m actually glad that I don’t have to play the organ or piano almost every Sunday morning like I had been over these past years. Yes, it’s good to have the free time. Now, if there’d be a church needing an organist/pianist for an early Service, I wouldn’t have a problem with that because the remainder of my Sundays would still be free.
After reading the news feeds today, I’ll continue with my deep prayers our democracy will still be alive by the time our mid-term elections roll around next Fall. It’s not surprising to find true stories being told by ex-MAGA voters who’re now realizing the error of their ways, so hopefully there’ll be a remarkable number of Republican seats being flipped over to Democrats.
Oh, you can’t believe how happy I was when hearing Rob Sand is now running for Governor. Having personally spoken with him, along with following his political career, there’s no doubt he’d be the best Governor our State has had in decades. He’s truly a rare breed who places the needs and wants of the general public above his own.
I’m sure he’ll definitely not be a ‘water boy’ for special interest groups like our Governor Kim Reynolds has been since she was elected. I’m sure gonna be glad to see her gone.
