The First Day After

Today’s damp-cold definitely had me bundled-up whenever outdoors, and when driving past that ticky-tacky apartment house, there were a handful of Hispanic workers busy slapping together big pieces of that soon to be eye-sore, which is beginning to take on the appearance of that build-out of ‘The River’ apartments which are rapidly showing signs of those inferior construction materials they used. I’ve always been of the belief that if you’re going to build something new, build it to last.

Most of my day was spent responding to inquiries, returning phone calls, along with doing some deep online research which centered around easements which were created a number of years ago. Thank goodness we still have the ability to get information on past transactions, because from the looks of it, the Executive branches of our State and Federal governments are hell-bent on limiting access to public records, along with attempting to re-write history.

Speaking of re-writing history, I did a little more in-depth research on this movement they call Christian Nationalism which after getting myself up to speed with it all, has me even more concerned about their teachings which many of our mainline Christian denominations are now in full disagreement with, of which I fully agree. They’re not only cherry-picking passages out of the Bible, but also twisting the real messages they were meant to give. I guess they all need to get their religious views re-booted, and start from the very beginning. The White House spiritual advisor our POTUS appointed has definitely taken herself on a path of enrichment, and believe me, it has little our nothing to do with Christ’s teachings.

We’re still getting some strong interest in my new listing at 1153 Eastmoor Drive which is giving me hope that it’ll be sold more sooner than later. It sounds like there’ll be another showing on it this weekend. After having been in many hundreds of homes over these years, I could definitely see myself living there, and because of its size, there are possibilities for making some additional changes/improvements, and certainly more than enough room to create a main floor laundry closet. Yes, when the Wick family had it built, they certainly didn’t spare any expense in its design and quality of materials used.  One thing I absolutely hate about our newer homes, is the chip-board they now use as sub-flooring which has too many chemicals in it for my taste. Whenever I’m in a lumberyard, I can smell the chemicals in those stacks of 4′ x 8′ sheets of it. No thank you very much.

I did manage to get all my first of the month bills paid and sent off in the mail, along with setting up several appointments for showings these coming days. I’m now beginning to wonder if all these DOGE cuts with our government agencies, is now affecting our postal service because my monthly statements and bills are coming in later than normal.

Since I have a pre-listing appointment tomorrow, I spent a little time doing some preliminary research on the home, and then went looking online for some comparable sales. I believe I found one that’ll be a good match-up for it, but I won’t be able to confirm it until I’ve done my walk-thru.

With it being the first day after what our POTUS considered being our country’s “Liberation Day”, I dare say placing all those tariffs on our trading partners has definitely rattled our stock market in a bad way, so we’ll see if it’ll continue to drop tomorrow. I did see where Chrysler is laying off 800 employees in one of its factories, and I’m afraid it’s just the beginning. Regardless what anyone says about the benefits of tariffs, and especially if it’s something said on Fox News, in the end, we the consumers are going to be paying the price. I’m not so worried about the prices of discretionary purchases, but I am when it comes to the basics like food and shelter. Yes, there are nefarious-minded forces trying to manipulate and control our economy, and I keep wondering, “To what end?” Perhaps they themselves don’t even know.

Tonight’s One-liner is: Worrying does not take away tomorrow’s troubles, but it does take away today’s peace.
