Another hot day arrived with our temps having reached up into the 80’s again, and for whatever reason, these late summer days always seem to feel hotter than earlier in the year. A person can definitely tell we are in need of rain considering how dry the grass is getting and hard the soil has become.

I did manage to get nearly a dozen of my favorite cucumbers picked and delivered to a group who’re always happy to receive just about anything out of my garden plot, so I dropped them off early this morning on my way to work. There’s no doubt I’ll be getting another touching thank you card from them after my veggies are finished producing for the year.

I’m gonna have to go looking for another place to pick up walnuts because the trees at my dear old friends place, haven’t had enough worth picking up. I’m sure the squirrels are going to have slim-pickings this year. There are several people who’ve come to mind whom I’ll call and see if their walnut trees were full of nuts this season. If I don’t get the normal amount I need, I’ll just have to make do with what I get.

The bulk of my morning was taken up with getting my new listing up and running which is a two bedroom condominium located at 422 S. Tennessee Place, Unit 1, which is about as maintenance free and move-in ready as even the fussiest could ever expect. The above photo is one of the exterior shots, and if you click on it, a slide show will provide all of the photos I’ve taken.

Having become very familiar over the years with the four condominiums in that building, I dare say it’s about as close to living in one’s own home, yet not have to deal with the shoveling and mowing. Because it’s a main floor unit, I dare say it won’t be on the market long, and I wouldn’t be a bit surprised if it goes under contract before the weekend hits. Yes, it’s that nice and priced right, so if you or anyone you know, wants to throw away your shovels and move into something much safer and worry-free, please give me a call. I’m only hoping whomever purchases it, will be a good fit for the existing owners.

The remainder of my working hours was pretty much one of those ‘follow the bouncing ball’ days where about all I could do was attempt to keep up with the calls, drop-ins and emails, but by the end of the day, I felt pretty confident everything I set out to do, got accomplished.

With the many stops I had to make, I happened to notice Johanns were selling sweet corn, and since they planted a late crop, I was compelled to buy a dozen ears, and if it’s as good as I’m expecting, I may purchase another dozen or two which I’ll place in freezer bags after it’s been blanched and cut off the cobs. I’m long past those days where eating corn off the cob is enticing, but rather now, use it for an added ingredient or even a special side dish like baked corn casserole which calls for sharp cheese, cream, sliced jalapeno peppers and few other ingredients. My mother used to make it whenever we’d have to go to a gathering, and it would always be well received.

I had to laugh to myself today as I was driving and noticing a few faces out of my past, and believe me, once they came into view, a few ‘newsreels’ began playing in my mind, and wouldn’t you know, the things we remember about people who’ve done some not so noble things to us over the years, their ‘tics’ are the first to come to mind. One of today’s ‘viewings’ was a guy whom I’ve known for too many years, who’d never seem to stop trying to unknowingly straighten his shirt by twitching his upper body instead of just pulling his shirt into position and leaving it alone. Thinking about it now, you’d swear he had a chronic itch he couldn’t get scratched. Yes, it’s that noticeable.

The other one, happened to be a very dark-eyed gal who for whatever reason, would always leave me a bit unsettled due to her near continuous staring at me, along with giving me a good looking up and down, which in my book is an attempt at being condescending. After getting a few inside tips recently, it was also a confirmation that her life is filled with hidden agendas. Thank goodness for the Divine Interventions which I’m oft-times blessed with, because if I did end up having to do work for them, they certainly would’ve become unnecessary millstones around my neck from beginning to end, so with that said, do work at paying more attention to your gut feelings, because most of the time, they’re spot-on.

Tonight’s One-liner is: Hell can sometimes be other people.
