Getting Thrown Back In Time

I did manage to get caught up on my sleep after being awakened numerous times during the night on Friday from the sound of fireworks in the neighborhood, and since it was another Sunday morning, I proceeded to get my spiritual exercise completed before even thinking about what I had planned for the rest of the day. Since I now have more people on my prayer chain, it takes a bit longer to get thru my session, which doesn’t bother me in the slightest.

About the only thing I have to report on today, is my having chained myself to one of my most disliked jobs, which was getting years of cigarette smoke scrubbed off the walls and ceilings of a bedroom, and for sure after the first twenty minutes of washing and rinsing a small section of that ceiling, I knew it was going to be one long haul, but by the time I finally called it quits for the day, I had the ceiling and one large wall cleaned and readied for a fresh coat of paint. My gosh, I finally quit counting the number of times I had to change the bucket of water with cleaner in it, as well as the bucket of rinse water. Thank goodness I had enough TSP on hand without having to run out to a hardware store and buy a package. Yes, Tri-sodium Phosphate is about the only thing that’ll lift cigarette smoke and cooking grease from walls and ceilings.

While working on that ceiling, I found myself getting mentally thrown back in time when an ever-needy ‘reli’ of mine shamed me into helping her scrub cigarette smoke off two very large ceilings in her home, which was yet another daunting task, and I’m sure at this very moment that helicoptering ‘reli’ has long forgotten that particular freebie, which of course was just one of the many little paying it forwards I’d done for far too many unappreciative blood relatives. But, as well many of us know, all good deeds never go unpunished. Yes, today I was unfortunately carried back in time for far too long of a period, but I’ll not be worrying, because I’ll have it all slept off before morning arrives.

I’ll not be going to any great lengths at getting that unit back in shape because I’ve reminded myself more than once, that I’m not yet finished with that long-term project that’s coming up for completion.

I just happened to notice a young man mowing and trimming the yard next door, so after he’d finished and getting ready to load his riding lawn mower, I went over and had a little chat with him, so as of right now, I have the name and number of a gentleman who does a very good job of mowing and trimming. First thing tomorrow, I’ll be forwarding his contact information to a client who just this past week, asked if I knew of a reputable yard person. As fussy as I am about yards, that guy would’ve got a gold star from me if I was the owner of that property next door. From the sounds of it, he’s got a full time factory job, but decided to start a side gig to bring in a little extra money, along with keeping himself productive during his off hours. Yes, that’s quite the spirit in these times wouldn’t you say?

While taking a little break from my wall washing, I placed a call to my dear friend, and glad I did because while visiting with her, she mentioned several names of professionals she was thinking about contacting whom I personally wouldn’t use, so I gave her a name of one I’ve used in the past and very pleased with that person’s work and prices. I can’t even begin to tell you how many times people I’ve known, were given financial shellackings by greedy professionals. Yes, I’ve been down that very road myself several times over these long years, and it wasn’t fun.

Now that I managed to immerse myself in a whole-unit cleaning, it really won’t be hard for me to get back at it whenever time permits, and only because I’ve already made a noticeable dent in it. Just remember, the hardest part of any job, is in its beginnings. Right?

Tonight’s One-liner is: The first step in a person’s salvation, is knowledge of their sin.
