Getting Much Of A Bang

I’m sure many of you were sticking close to home after the temps starting rising well above 80 degrees, and glad I got over to Clear Lake to get my open house signs in place before the traffic started getting heavy. I couldn’t believe how many parked cars were lining the side streets off North Shore Drive, and likely because there were people wanting to have their spots saved for tonight’s fireworks on the lake. So between my two trips over to the lake, printing a stack of flyers out, and getting a few office duties taken care of, my morning was pretty much shot.

My public open house over at the Harborage went relatively well considering it being a holiday, and the bulk of those who came to look at it, were neighbors with their visiting relatives, which was fine by me because neighbors are very good at helping to get properties sold. I always tell them, “You couldn’t have a better way to pick your neighbors if you’d actively work at encouraging a friend or relative to purchase it.” Believe me, it happens more than people think.

Towards the close of my open house, I ended up having a really nice chat with one of the neighbors who uses their unit as a weekend getaway. We had a few good laughs as well when looking at some of the people who were down at the pool, and one of them especially because that woman was wearing a string bikini which was most definitely not becoming for her age and size. And since I’ve not been near a public pool in years, I was also amazed at the number of overweight men, women and children who were splashing around down there. I know I’m being wicked when saying there were several abdominous men who shouldn’t have been going without their shirts because they were looking like they were in need of brassieres. Oh well, I guess I’m just a bit too old fashioned. Right?

By the time I got back to office, followed by a little running around with errands, it was time to call it a day, and for whatever reason, I was feeling like I’d had a good workout, and likely because of the heat and extra traffic I had to deal with, but before heading home, I checked to see what was happening in our local real estate market in regards to the high-end acreages that’ve recently been listed. Ok, just for your information, between the price of $500K and $1.5 million, there are seven of them, which has me now wondering what’s precipitating those owners to be selling at this time, and I dare say I can’t recall there ever being that many on the market at any given time in the past. Perhaps they know something we don’t.

One of my retired clients sent me a text saying he’d received a text from the Social Security Administration saying something about how happy he should be the ‘Big Beautiful Bill’ was passed because he’s gonna save more money which he immediately deleted. Well, I just happened to catch a news feeds saying the message that went out today to all of our Social Security beneficiaries, was very, very misleading, which came as no surprise to me. I’m growing all the more convinced the bulk of those Republicans in Congress and our current Administration, have turned into some of the biggest liars, and for the first time in many years, I really don’t think I’ll be getting much of a bang out of our 4th of July. I’m continuing to have this gnawing feeling that our country is rapidly heading for a down-hill slide similar to fall of the Roman Empire. Shame on those who’re precipitating it.

Tonight’s One-liner is: Guilty people are their own hangmen.
