Big Beautiful Travesty

It ended up being another solid ten hour day which began with my heading over to a unit to get another load of ‘left-behinds’ placed in giant garbage bags and hauled off to the landfill which was noticeably busier considering tomorrow’s a holiday, but at least it’s now to the point where a long period of deep cleaning will begin. I couldn’t help mentioning to someone yesterday that I oft times get this ‘feeling’ that such exiting tenants have the mindsets of walking away from such chaos, as their personal form of giving the owners their middle fingers. Yes, I’m coming to believe there are many such feeble mindsets out there.

Once the landfill run was over, I headed back to office and began preparing for a Zoom meeting I was to have with a seller, and once that was finished, it was coming up to the hour where I had to skedaddle off and meet my two out of town relatives for lunch, and thank goodness the waitstaff was prompt because I had purposely made copies of two branches of our family history which dated back to the early 1800’s which I knew they were unaware of their existence, which is why I made a copies for each of them take home. I was a little firm when saying they’d best take their time reviewing those pages because if a person isn’t following the history chain correctly, they’d soon grow confused over it, and mostly because back in those days, parents would often name their children after themselves, so if you’d see an ‘Edward’ on one page, and then read about ‘Edward’ again on another, it wouldn’t be a duplication, but rather a history of Edward’s son named Edward. I have to admit, the first time I read one of those histories a number of years ago, I ended up getting confused as well, so I hope my relatives heeded my warning. Yes, it ended up being a delightful quick lunch with them.

My early afternoon Zoom meeting went very well to the point where the seller agreed to list the home, and before I can move forward with the sale, I’ll have to wait for the movers to get everything boxed up and moved to another location. Without a doubt, that home will definitely be a hot item once it hits the market, and only because of its condition, style and location. I did go over some really good comparable sales which supported my valuation which we all agreed upon.

I had a surprise visit from two delightful elderly past clients who stopped by my office to tell me how much they appreciated hearing me play that massive pipe organ over at Trinity Lutheran Church several months ago. Gosh, they sure had me blushing over it, and especially when they insisted I play for their congregation more often, which I responded, “I’d be delighted, but first I have to be invited.” I couldn’t help taking their words as a great compliment when knowing their life histories and levels of education.

A good hour or more was spent working on my bill paying and office accounting before I had to run back over to 416 N. Adams and take a great many more photos for an interested party which I forwarded in text messages. Of course just as I was getting ready to leave, another couple showed up at the doorstep wanting to take a peek which ate up more of my afternoon. But at least I supplied all the necessary photos to that prospective buyer, so we’ll see what happens in the coming days.

I did manage to get all my signage readied for tomorrow’s open house over at the Harborage in Clear Lake, so at least I can get it all set up early tomorrow morning before the traffic gets crazy on North Shore Drive. If nothing else comes of that open house, at least I’ll be enjoying the views from that unit’s upper deck, but I’m afraid there’ll be a great number of curious lookers who’ll have me fully engaged the entire time.

I can’t even resurrect the words to describe my disappoint/anger after seeing where our House of Representatives passed our POTUS’s ‘Big Beautiful Bill’ which I’ve already renamed as our country’s ‘Big Beautiful Travesty’ which is going to create all the more division, pain and hardships in our country. Like I’ve said more than once, this is just the beginning of something that’s likely going to create a downward spiraling domino effect on our democracy. Heaven help us all if we don’t get enough Republicans voted out in both chambers of Congress during our mid-term elections which brings me back to what I’ve been insisting on a regular basis, and that is: Make absolutely certain you’re registered to vote, and then go and vote your conscience, and this time I mean it with all my heart and soul. Ashley Hinson and Joni Ernst have both gotta go, along with Mariannette Miller-Meeks. My gosh! How have they been able get away with telling such bald-faced lies to their constituents?

Tonight’s One-liner is: Time discovers truth.
