I made sure to get everything done at my office as early as possible this morning, just so there’d be enough time for me to get my mowing jobs completed before the temps got unbearable, and luckily I managed to have it all finished-up about a half hour before my ten o’clock appointment, so I quickly got myself cleaned up and headed over to the first building I was scheduled to show.
They’d only wanted to see two of them, but by the time we finished up on the second one, they asked about my listing at 118 N. Federal, and as chance would have it, that’s the one they’re the most interested in, so hopefully they’ll be calling to see it again. Regardless of what some may think, I’ve been working very hard at getting all the commercial buildings I have listed, sold and closed out. Unfortunately all these tariffs our POTUS has put in place, along with all the other crazy Executive Orders he’s signed, has got a very many investors clutching their checkbooks all the tighter. Without a doubt, uncertainty plays a key role in rattling our financial markets in negative ways.
My next appointment was to do an initial walk-thru on a very nice home which has been exceptionally well taken care of, and from what I was seeing today, that charming home should definitely sell right out of the gates, and only because of how well it’s been taken care of over the many years of ownership. Without a doubt, that’ll be a great listing to have on the market, and fortunately, it would be listed in one of our ‘hot’ price ranges.
After my real estate duties were completed by early afternoon, I decided it was time to get that apple tree planted which I purchased some days ago. Yes, I was very careful about site choice, along with making sure there was a good amount of compost included in the soil. For being this late in the year, that potted tree is now looking exceptionally healthy.
I did spend a good hour or more pulling weeds out of the rows of garlic, potatoes and onions, and from the looks of it, I’ll soon have to be hilling those onions because their bulbs are now starting to poke out of the ground. I’m hoping there’ll be large number of pearly-white onions at harvest like I had several years ago, only this time I have twice as many. Yes, I do enjoy a good all-naturally grown white onion which tastes far better than what you’d find in the stores.
My last appointment of the day was another showing at 416 N. Adams which went well, but I have this ‘feeling’ the buyer wasn’t overly smitten by it. I’m coming to believe the one who ends up buying it, will likely be someone who’s either retired or close to it, which will give them something to keep their mind and body active. I came right out and told today’s buyer that there’s nothing in that home I would personally consider overwhelming, but of course there are far too many who’ve not gone thru the whole process of a restoration and upgrade.
I had to limit my time spent looking at the news feeds today, and only because I’m growing all the more uneasy over the choices our Administration is continuing to make, and now that we’ve got a growing measles outbreak, along with another mutation of Covid which they’re now calling ‘razor covid’, not to mention being on the brink of a world war getting started in the Middle East, you can’t help wanting to go hide under a bed until it’s all over. Of course none of us should take that approach because our fears would be playing right into their hands.
Some would likely say today’s wind was making it all the hotter, but I personally thought it was helping to keep the humidity levels down. We can always tell when it’s really hot when seeing the leaves on trees curling inward, just for added protection. For sure I was taking my sweet time while out in it because I certainly didn’t want to get over-heated.
