Most of my morning was spent on research and running errands which consisted of getting some banking done, stopping at a paint store for supplies and then picking up a finished product from one of our local machinists. Of course my journeys took all the longer due to the detours we have all over our city with all that street and highway work which appears to be taking place all at once.
It was definitely good to be out and about with our bright sun and crisp air, but from the sounds of it, we’re headed for some very warm days which may be starting tomorrow, and since those biting gnats haven’t been nearly as annoying as they were in past years, I now suspect the higher temps will bring them out in high numbers, so we’ll see what they’ll be like when our temps are in the 80’s.
I didn’t have much time to spend with my visiting ‘reli’ today, and only because my afternoon was pretty much consumed by an extended pre-listing appointment I had with a couple who’re planning on moving out of our area which has me a bit saddened because they’ll more sooner than later, become another demographic statistic which has been taking place within our community these past twenty years. More and more we’re finding couples who’ve lived here nearly their entire lives, deciding to move elsewhere after they’ve both fully retired.
After sharing their thoughts regarding where they’ll likely end up, I could feel a pang of envy running thru me, and only because that particular area of our country has always interested me, and mostly because of its weather, topography and milder climate. When they do call me to go and list it, I’ll be doing my absolute best to get their charming home sold, just so they can purchase their retirement dream home. Good for them. I did warn them about our slowing market, just so they don’t think there’s a problem with their home. We must always remember, if there’s a buyer shortage, all the more homes will remain unsold.
If I should think of it and then spend some time investigating, I’m going to find out where those statistics came from regarding the recent announcement that Cerro Gordo county’s population has risen for the first time in decades, but my big question will be, “What towns created that rise in population?” I have this ‘feeling’ Clear Lake is the community which caused that rise, and only because of their much tighter housing market, along with their increased new home construction. I’m also questioning how they can come up with such figures because there’s been no census taken. Yes, I’ve seen a great deal of statistical extrapolation taking place regarding our housing trends over these many years, and just recently I heard someone’s knee-jerk response to a question being asked regarding turn-over rates in apartment build-outs. The speed in which it came out of that person’s mouth, gave me that ‘feeling’ a prevarication was being told.
With a little free time, I went to my computer and got caught up on the news feeds, and while skimming, there was an article which caught my eye that spoke about reactive abuse. Oh my goodness! I finally came across the true classification of what I’d experienced some years ago which at times, became exasperating to the point where I would work at distancing myself from that individual, just so I wouldn’t later find myself being so cleverly prodded to the point of losing my cool, and of course it would all end up being my fault. Yes, it took me far longer than it should’ve to realize what was truly taking place.
I suppose the real eye-opener was hearing the prodder saying to another who was standing nearby, “Now you see what he’s really like!”, which caused me to mentally stand back a few steps and do a full analysis on what was really going on over those years. You can be sure from that day forward, I began distancing myself from that individual as well a several others. My gosh! We definitely have some sickies out in our general public. The only succor I could give myself, was knowing it’s continually happening to a whole lot of others who’ve not yet come to the understanding that it’s not them.
