Never About The Kudos

Another cold and overcast morning unfolded which always starts off one’s day on a dark tone, but at least the cloud cover finally dissipated which brightened up our afternoon. In spite of the sun being out, it still wasn’t even close to being comfortably warm.

To my delight, I found an email this morning from the listing agent on that out-of-town home which encountered another roadblock with it’s financing, but it now looks like we’re gonna be getting back on track once the sellers get some lender required repairs made to the property, so I quickly copied and pasted the message and sent it to the buyers which definitely brightened their day.

Thank goodness I was at my office when the FedEx person arrived with a envelope containing the abstract to another one of my recent sales, so I completed my worksheet for the abstract company and later delivered it to them for continuation. That’ll be another sale I’ll be happy to have closed, and only because there were many hours spent getting that prepped for photos. Not to worry, I’m getting quite used to paying it forward, simply as a counter-balance in these ‘all about me’ times.

I happened to notice my name being mentioned in today’s Globe Gazette regarding Tuesday night’s City Council meeting, which was just OK by me because from here on out, I’m not going to be sugar-coating anything I have to say about that proposed change of zoning, and only because I’ve got this ‘to the bone’ bad feeling about it, and the few times such deep feelings do take place, they almost always become a reality if they’re not de-railed. Over these recent weeks, it’s become more clear to me how ignorant and short-sighted all the many in our general public have become.

One of my old clients who owns various plots of land in our area who happened to read about me in the Globe Gazette this morning, stopped by to chew the fat a little regarding those grueling two hours I had to spend at that council meeting. Once I had him brought up to speed with that zoning change, he mentioned having just come from the landfill where he had to pay $160.00 to dispose of twenty vehicle tires some evil monkeys had dumped off in the driveway of a small wooden parcel of land he owns. Yes, he wasn’t a happy camper about it, but according to him, such dumpings have become more commonplace in North Iowa. My goodness. I didn’t know they now charge $8.00 per tire out at our landfill. Yikes!

Shortly after the hour of eleven, I headed over to Bethlehem Lutheran to get some practicing done, and after spending about forty minutes going thru all the music I was given to play, I closed the organ down and walked away feeling all the more confident it’ll be just fine come Sunday morning. What helped the most, was my having been sent a live-stream video of one of their Services, just so I’d have a better idea regarding the various time frames I’ll be playing.

Just as I was pulling out of their parking lot, I was reminded that it was taco Thursday at the Moose Lodge which is located only two blocks from their church, so I decided to stop and get one to go.

While there, I happened to run into several past clients, along with a current member of St. Paul Lutheran who gave me a big hug and then went on to say how much she missed hearing me sing while playing their piano, which I took as a great compliment because she was never on the talkative side those years I played for them. Her words turned into quite the lifting-up for me the remainder of my day. Truthfully, I must say it’s almost never about the kudos received, but rather a confirmation I’d done something memorably good.

I just about fell off my chair when seeing a particular home recently listed I once previewed for a seller some years ago, and only because my memories of that dwelling were definitely on the border of a scene out of a horror movie. Without a doubt, I’ll definitely never forget that Sunday afternoon walk-thru, and you can bet as I was rapidly driving away, there were internal prayers being said that I’ll never have to enter that super-creepy home again. Talk about bad juju!

Tonight’s One-liner is: Always walk away from anyone or anything that gives you bad vibes.
