Flooded With The Brick and Mortars

My gosh! I couldn’t believe how cold it was outdoors this morning. I actually had get myself layered before heading out. I’m sure if that north wind wasn’t blowing so hard, it wouldn’t have felt nearly as cold.

With it being Saturday, along with having no scheduled appointments in real estate, I spent my entire morning either hauling refuse to the landfill, picking up sticks and branches from these recent winds, along with working in my garden. Yes, I had a good workout which in the end, had me happy over the number of chores I managed to get taken care of in a four hour time period.

I’m super excited over my garden thus far because the onion plants I planted weeks ago, are growing gangbusters, and the 150+ hard-neck garlic plants are absolutely remarkable, along with that fussy potato variety I planted which is showing very good growth, so before the end of this month, I’ll have all the ‘hot crops’ planted, and then all I’ll have left before harvest, is the weeding.

After stopping for a quick lunch break, I headed over to my project and finished up on stripping that 100+ year old wardrobe which I’m now glad I took on because I believe it’ll be a fine visual, as well as providing some extra needed storage. Unfortunately, I most recently found out that the couple who’d given it to me, are both deceased which came as a bit of a jaw-drop when I discovered it. Well, when people move far and away from North Iowa, and then have children who don’t get their obits published, it’s no wonder all the many more deaths go un-noticed.

When looking at the new listings in our MLS today, I wasn’t a bit surprised to see where the LLC Joe Pritchard is associated with, listed the old Shopko building for sale with one of our local Realtors. I still remember quite clearly all the fanfare that went on regarding the purchase of that building where they were going to make electric golf carts. They’re asking five million for the property, along with having it listed for rent with that Realtor. I do wish them well, especially knowing how our commercial market is getting flooded with the brick and mortars buildings. What really concerns me, is knowing there are at least seven storefronts for sale in ‘The Plaza’ which is just north of our mall. Without question, that’s definitely telling us something about today’s business climate.

Tonight’s One-liner is: Maturity is a bitter disappointment for which no remedy exists, unless laughter could be said to remedy anything.
