One Of The Best

This about-face with our weather today was a bit of a shocker when all of a sudden the wind changed directions and then our temps dropping sharply, and as much as I wanted to take a load of refuse to the landfill this afternoon, I was glad to have placed a call first before heading out there because they had a message on their answering machine saying they’d closed early due to the weather conditions. I guess that trip will be saved for another day.

Most of my day was spent dealing with contractors, suppliers and a utility company, and by the time early afternoon arrived, I was asking myself where all those hours went. Isn’t it amazing how much time is spent making preparations for something to be done by others? Of course everyone wants you to work around their schedule instead of the other way around, and especially when you’re the one paying them. Go figure.

While in conversation with one of those who happens to be outdoors more than in, we ended up on the subject of those evil gnats that decided to make North Iowa their home turf beginning about five years ago, and by the looks of it, their numbers are growing. Even if I take a few steps out the back door of my office, they’re right there waiting to annoy me. I couldn’t help mentioning how odd it is there’s not been a ‘trap’ invented similar to the Japanese beetle ones they came out with which definitely helps to keep them at bay. I’ll have to do some additional research on whether they’ve got something new out on the market to deal with them more aggressively.

With an hour free, I went back over to Bethlehem Lutheran Church to get a little more practicing done for next Sunday’s Services, and glad I did because today’s practice session brought me closer to being in a comfort zone with their pipe organ. Yes, all instruments have some of the slightest of variations which one must grow accustomed.
Without realizing it, their secretary could hear me playing and as I was walking out, made a positive comment regarding what she’d heard which helped to diminish my apprehensions. Yes, whenever learning something new, one always has to deal with those fear factors.

I’m already starting to make preparations for the next closing which will hopefully take place on time in spite of the buyers getting a slow start with their financing, and only because we had to wait until we had inspection issues resolved with that home. Without a doubt, the cheaper the home, the more hiccups there are with its marketing and subsequent sale.

After getting caught up on the news feeds, I dare say the link I’ve included below, was one of the best short speeches I’ve heard out of the mouth of a U.S. Senator. There’s no question Jon Ossoff from Georgia couldn’t have made it any more clear regarding the direction our democracy is moving, which is why we must not allow it to be undermined any more than it’s already been. If you have a moment, please take time to watch it and then share with others.
