A Golden Mother’s Day

Another normal Sunday morning rolled around, but before heading to office, I decided to take a drive out to our East Hy-Vee, just to see if they still had in stock, those whole pork loins they had on sale for $1.77 per lb., which was a very good price, and as luck would have it, they still had about ten of them in stock, so I grabbed one and headed to their check-out. I was also happy to find they were packed by Hormel which is one of our better meat distributors. I didn’t realize they were on sale until I was out at the West Hy-Vee yesterday and having noticed the positing in the meat department, but not a single pork loin slab was available. I’m sure those other nine slabs weren’t in the case much after the hour of eight this morning. Like I’ve been telling people, especially in these times, you’ve got to watch for those in-store sales.

Once I had my Sunday morning prayer session completed, I spent the better part of my day working at various projects/chores which were needing to get completed, along with taking care of another week’s job of mowing. Since I’m still not in the swing of all the extra outdoor manual labor, I’m having to pace myself to keep from over doing it.  I even went so far as making a snap decision to get a garage cleared out and tidied up. Isn’t it funny how quickly we humans can turn into hoarders? I think I’m turning into a winter hoarder and a summer pitcher.

As chance would have it, I didn’t even have time to stop and read the news feeds today, which was unusual for me, so whatever happened over these past 24 hours, couldn’t have been that bad or someone would’ve said something.

I did have a mid-afternoon showing on one of my listings which went well, and to my surprise/delight, I discovered the wife and I share something special in common, so we had a nice chat about that as well. I have this ‘feeling’ our paths will more sooner than later, cross again. I also had to apologize profusely for being late, and only because the computer at my office was giving me fits.

Before heading home, I decided to make one quick stop at Hy-Vee Drug, just to have a good look at the nursery items they had for sale. They sure don’t have near the amount of flowers, plants and veggies like years before. I’m now wondering if these tariffs and broken supply chains are having an effect on nursery items.

While there, I ran into the daughter of a recently departed Prairie Place on 1st resident, which prompted me to tell her I’d been speaking about her mother to another person several days ago. I also added the fact that there was something very special about her mother which endeared her to me. Well, according to her daughter, her mother thought the world of me. Wow! I definitely wasn’t expecting to hear that. I decided not to share a conversation I had with her mother regarding a silly-minded printing an evil ‘reli’ of mine so mean-spiritedly dropped off at Prairie Place on 1st for all their residents to read. Knowing her mother had read it, I went to her some days later, just to clear the air. Thank goodness her kind words helped to put that embarrassing nonsense into perspective. I believe since that time, we grew all the closer. Yes, she was a dear one.

I took tonight’s photo and posted it, just to assure all of you that I had a golden Mother’s Day. Truth be told, even those gnats weren’t bothering me as much as they were yesterday. Considering how much physical work I’d done today, I’ll definitely be feeling it in the morning.

Tonight’s One-liner is: Those who’ve achieved true and lasting success have worked well, laughed often, and loved much.
