Blue In The Face

Another sunny May day arrived which would’ve been entirely delightful if there wasn’t a chilling wind blowing out of the east, and since our days are getting longer, I’ve been finding myself getting up a little earlier, and likely because dawn is arriving much sooner.

Not much was happening in the world of real estate other than the showing of my listing over a 416 N. Adams which has been getting the activity I was suspecting, and likely because of how low-priced it is. It’s really too bad there has not yet arrived on the scene, a fully seasoned do-it-yourselfer who’d be more than happy to take on a project like that, and mainly because of it’s potential to create real equity in a very short period of time. I’m not so sure today’s buyer would be a good fit, and mostly because of the lack of funds and expertise. Believe me, I’ve been down that road once before with several buyers who bit off way more than they could chew.

The main organist from Bethlehem Lutheran Church stopped by today to give me a number of sheets of music as replacements for what I was given weeks ago. I couldn’t help shaking my head in disbelief because just yesterday, I had what was given me earlier, fully learned. I had to reminder her that playing for their Service was gonna be a virgin voyage, so hopefully there won’t be any major hiccups on my part. Fortunately she did mention she’d more sooner than later, get the five hymns delivered to me which I’d also be playing that Sunday.

I was definitely taken aback when told we have a new Pope, and what had me almost teary-eyed, was my having mentioned to someone just yesterday that it would be a big boon for our citizens if an American Cardinal were elected. Well, of the American Cardinals’ bios I read some days ago, there were two which had me very impressed, and wouldn’t you know, one of those two is now Pope Leo XIV. Now how creepy-cool was that? I had to snicker to myself when reading later this afternoon, our now Pope Leo XIV having kicked back on both our POTUS’s and J.D. Vance’s comments about dealing with migrants when he was still a Cardinal. I’m sure he’ll be all the more outspoken on such issues, which are definitely needing to be addressed.

The buyers of that rickety home I sold almost two weeks ago, sent me a repair and improvement request on that home which wouldn’t even make a dent with the issues that it has. After visiting with the listing agent this afternoon, I went back to the buyers and encouraged them to ask the sellers for a monetary concession, so hopefully tomorrow morning, they’ll either walk away from that purchase, or move forward with the re-negotiating of price. I hate it sometimes when ‘knowing’ a sale was likely gonna fall apart, long before it happened. Oh well, we can advise until we’re blue in the face, but most of the time, buyers and sellers end up going down their hard-coded chosen paths, but at least they were duly warned ahead of time.

I had a short chat with a gentleman who’s a retired teacher regarding all this craziness going on in our Federal and State Governments, which he was in full agreement with, but he also reminded me that one of our founding fathers mentioned how bad it would be for our Country to only have a two party system, which I fully agreed. He also went on to mention his recent investigations on the election process in Canada, which he believed to be far better than ours. Our main agreements were the following: No political action committees allowed, no corporate lobbyists allowed, and definitely term limits for all elected officials, and especially in our Federal Government. I think if we had those rules in place years ago, our Country wouldn’t be in the shape it’s in right now.

Tonight’s One-liner is: Every tyrant who has lived, has believed in freedom only for himself.
