An Ill-Conceived Military Operation

Whomever dubbed Mason City ‘The Windy City of the North’ back when he or she created that famous portrait of our Downtown, definitely had it right, and since the winds seem to be all the stronger in these times, makes it an even more appropriate nickname.

With Easter barreling down on us, I had some extra chores on my list which I wanted to get completed before Sunday, and especially knowing there’ll be many having dinner guests, or traveling out of town to be with loved ones.

While driving from point A to B in and around our downtown, I realized it’s feeling more like embarking out on one of those long driver’s obstacle courses which has barricades, quick turns and zig-zags. Unfortunately we’ll be having to endure this the entire summer and into the Fall. I’m still not a bit in favor of having those turn-abouts they’re planning to install along Hwy 122, and only because most of our elderly will do everything they can to avoid them. It would be nice if the DOT would publish a sketch of what they’ll look like when completed.

With a short notice, I had to run over to Prairie Place on 1st to open up the unit I have listed for an agent and his buyers. Thank goodness I was there because I had to do some clarifying of what can and can’t be done with those units, as well as making sure the buyers were fully aware of all the extra benefits being offered with those units. On my way back to office, I reminded myself once again how important my being there is, and only because having a fully informed buyer, ends up being the best buyer.

Shortly after I arrived home, I was notified by that selling agent that an offer had been emailed to me on that unit, so first thing tomorrow morning, I’ll be in contact with the owners. I do hope we can get it put together, because that unit has been waiting for it’s new owner for too many weeks, but as chance would have it, another agent called today saying she had someone who also may be interested in viewing that unit. Yes, sometimes when it rains, it pours.

When looking at the mortgage rates, I noticed they’re starting to climb, and likely because of the unusual activity in the United States Bond market, and if our POTUS doesn’t stop bullying our trading partners, it’s gonna get worse. Since I was selling real estate back when the interest rates were hovering around 10% for a number of years, I still remember the factor for calculating a fixed 30 year mortgage at that rate. Gosh, I sure hope our interest rates don’t go that high because our real estate market will be in a whole heap of hurt. I’m still of the belief that this craziness is all part of a dark plan, just so the multi-billionaires can scoop up more assets on the cheap.

After reading an article today, I realized the author had put to print my thoughts/concerns regarding our current Administration which is now filled with third-rate intellects, conspiracy theorists, and misfits, who’ll more likely in the near future, exacerbate an un-containable pandemic, a full-blown depression greater than our country has every experienced, and possibly even an ill-conceived military operation which will usher in World War Three, and all because of who managed to win this past Presidential election. In spite of my stern warnings to many, it ended up happening, so all of us are now having to live with the mistakes an un-educated group of people made.

Tonight’s One-liner is: Do not waste time dreaming of great far away opportunities; do the best you can where you are, so you can open you petals of power and beauty, and fling out the fragrance of you life in the place that has been assigned to you.
