Penchant For Eliciting Hatreds And Fears

I made a bit of a mistake by not wearing warm enough clothes today, and likely because I thought it would be much warmer than it ended up being. Of course that northwest wind made it all the uncomfortable.

Upon arrival at office, I discovered a dirty pile of women’s clothes near where I normally park at the rear of my office, which caused an immediate bristle, so after getting my office doors unlocked, I went and put a pair of disposable gloves on, grabbed a big garbage bag and headed back out to get those clothes shoved in that bag and delivered to the dumpster, and what made matters worse, was finding a half-eaten plastic container of what looked like macaroni and cheese which was deposited on the platform of a nearby electric transformer. My gosh! I can only imagine what else has been happening in and around our downtown on a nightly basis.

Looking and feeling more like a sheepdog, I decided to go and get a haircut early this morning, and since I later had a funeral home visitation to attend, I figured it even more important I get clipped. The gal that I was assigned to cut my hair, wasn’t a regular, so it ended up being another one of those question and answer sessions. In spite of the jabbering, she did end up doing a pretty good job, so I’ll likely ask for her the next time I go there.

The visitation was a bit of a sad affair, and only because I always thought the world of that kind-hearted gentleman who was a regular at St. Paul Lutheran Church where I offered my keyboards services for nearly a decade. It was an open casket, so at least I was able to get one last glimpse of him. As it oft-times happens, his wife hadn’t even been dead for two years, which was one more confirmation that those who’ve been married for a very long time, usually pass within a year or two of each other. I dare say, I could see him slowly deteriorating after her passing, and not a bit surprised when seeing his online obituary.

Before leaving, I decided to grab a cup of coffee and join a handful of their members who’d gathered around a table. Of course the first question asked, was if I was still playing piano and organ, so I filled them in on what’s been happening in my world of music. Somehow our conversation evolved into the tariffs and our stock market going down, and one of them whom I know voted for our POTUS, quietly said, “Oh, don’t worry, it’ll go back up again.” By the look on her face, I could tell she wasn’t believing what she was saying. Well, when you’ve been unknowingly propagandized by Fox News or Truth Social, what else can one expect?

My early afternoon appointment was with a young couple whom I’d shown several properties to this past weekend, and after they’d done some serious discussing, they decided to make an offer on one of them. Of course I was happy to hear they’d picked that particular one because it was the best out of what we’d looked at. After all the docs were signed, we sat and had a nice visit, and as chance would have it, one of them lived in a historic house which I’d sold a number of years ago, so we had even more to talk about. My how small North Iowa’s world is? After they left, I went ahead and scanned all the docs to my computer and then emailed them to the listing agent. As far as I’m concerned, that offer was well within reason of its value, so hopefully the seller will feel similarly.

I definitely managed to get an information overload when reading the national and international news this afternoon, which had me even more convinced, our POTUS and his minion entourage are purposely creating long term problems and hardships for the rest of us. If there’s one noticeable ability our POTUS has, it’s his penchant for eliciting hatreds and fears, along with creating an even greater division in our country, which in the end, is going to make us all the weaker on the international stage. More and more people are saying, “Why doesn’t he leave Canada the Hell alone?” After seeing a ‘live’ camera-feed of him when he thought he wasn’t being filmed, I’m now coming into the mindset he’s got some age-related mental issues going on. So who indeed is actually steering out country’s boat? It’s growing all the more curiouser and curiouser.

For the first time, I actually heard someone else saying something about the cutting of Medicare benefits for our elderly, and that happened to be in a short speech given by Bernie Sanders. Yes, everyone had better wake up to the fact that possibly 2 out of 3 of our elderly who’re in nursing homes, may end up being kicked out for non-payment. Can you imagine the social upheavals that’ll create? Well, when you’re part of this plutocracy our POTUS is creating, the health and welfare of those far below them is one more facet of their indifference towards the masses which they consider nothing more than sheep for the shearing.

Tonight’s One-liner is: Unlike the masses, intellectuals have a taste for rationality and interest in facts, as their critical habit of mind, makes them resistant to the kind of propaganda that works so well on the majority.
