Unconscionable Words And Deeds

Well, as one of the old saying goes about the first of March, we had an ‘In like a lamb and out like a lion’ day today, so let’s see if the 31st is going to be a ‘lion day’. Even though it was a bit brisk outdoors earlier this morning, I decided to take a short drive out into the countryside, just to help get myself mentally washed of yesterday’s happenings at the White House, and you can be sure, I had an exceptionally restless night because of it.

When I arrived back at office, I decided to give my dear friend a call, just to share some of my thoughts regarding yesterday’s happenings, and wouldn’t you know, she also had a rough night of it as well, along with agreeing with me that the shock of it all went so deep with the both of us, we couldn’t even put a name on it. Yes, it was that shocking. f

After our much-needed chat, I did a little errand running, and one of them happened to be a needed stop over at First Citizen’s Bank. Oh my gosh! I couldn’t believe all three drive-thru lanes were three and four deep. When I finally got up to the ‘tube’, I couldn’t help saying to one of the teller’s, “Are you experiencing a run on your bank?” Of course her knee-jerk response was, “Oh no, it’s just another first of the month.” Well, I had to add the fact that after these many years, I’d never seen that many cars at their drive-thru. Yes, from what I’ve been reading these last few days, people are buying less and starting to keep more cash on hand, which comes as no surprise to me because we definitely are living in a country that’s in a state of chaos.

Once all my errands were run, I decided to give myself a good beating by going over to my project and working for a good six hours, which for me, was a much-needed diversion because of what went on in the White House yesterday. But on a positive note, I did manage to get a good deal of work done which is bringing me closer to the finish line.

While working, I did receive a call from an out of State ‘reli’ whom I hadn’t spoken with in weeks, and pretty much the bulk of our conversation was about our POTUS and those political thugs he’s surrounded himself with. I finally did come up with a close match regarding my core feelings about what our POTUS and J.D. Vance did to Zelensky, and that being a setting filled with unconscionable words and deeds. Yes, I believe unconscionable is appropriate because what our POTUS and his minion did, was something I couldn’t even imagine saying and/or doing to the leader of a country which has been at war for over three years now, and all due to an unprovoked invasion under the command of Putin. And to think, our POTUS absolutely will NOT come out and say, Putin started that war. For the longest while, there’ve been those that have said Putin has something on him, but after all the lawsuits and personal indiscretions that’ve come to light over these years, would one more make any difference with public opinion?

When I got back to office, I checked the news feeds, just to see if our POTUS and Vance were doing any sort of back-peddling on yesterday’s episode, and not to my surprise, our POTUS was in Florida golfing and Vance was in Vermont skiing with his family. Gee, it looks like neither one of them has a conscience. I did have to smile when reading where Vance had to make a change of plans because there were hundreds of protesters lining the highway near his destination. I doubt he even got a sliver of a message because I’m beginning to believe he is from the dark side.

His recent conversion to Catholicism I find very questionable, because yours truly was born and raised in an exceptionally orthodox Catholic family, along with being force-fed doctrine for a good thirteen years in a Catholic school system, which brings me to most earnestly say, wherever he got his ‘Catholic’ education, must’ve been from a tract he found in a box of Wheaties. Perhaps he’s like some Catholics I know who ‘cherry pick’ Scripture and dogma to fit their needs at any given moment.

I don’t regret having been immersed in a Catholic school’s environment because after a while, I came to realize that no matter what persuasion one belongs to, it all depends on whether we truly work on being more Christ-like, which many have completely forgotten about, and especially his views on greed, charity, forgiveness, and hate. In these troubling times, I have to remind myself all the more often of his words, ‘Those who live in fear, dwell in darkness.’ Wouldn’t you agree our current government is attempting to fill us with fear, just so they can pull us all the more into their darkness? I’ve insisted for many years that fear is the core of all evil. Think about it.

Tonight’s One-liner is: It is far better to be alone, than to be in bad company.
