Once the snow was over this morning, it appeared we dodged another bullet with the brunt of this snowstorm being north of us, but we did get enough to where I had to do some shoveling out front of my office, just to be sure it wouldn’t start melting and then turn into ice overnight.
Not much was happening in the realm of real estate other than opening up a home for showing that was scheduled this afternoon. Unfortunately the home wasn’t exactly what the buyers were expecting. It’s still on their list of possibilities, but definitely not at the top. Hopefully there’ll be something else coming on the market before the end of this month because that’s when they really want to have something under contract, so if you happen to know of anyone who’s thinking about selling their three bedroom or large two ranch with a double garage and priced in the 200ish or below price range, please have them give me a call because I have a pre-approved buyer.
I had to make a quick trip to Fareway grocery store because I suddenly realized I was missing an ingredient for this evening’s meal, and while there, I managed to find several other in-store specials which I ended up purchasing. They were definitely busy, and likely because many shoppers had held off until it quite snowing.
While reading the online news today, I happened upon a video which made absolute sense as to why our elections went in the direction it did, which pretty much mirrored my thoughts all along. The thrust of his commentary was all about how the many ignorant people were being bombarded with fake news, which those of us who were more alert to such tripe, would automatically dismiss.
As I’ve told a number of people these recent years, there’s been an alarming number of people in the working world who’ve become overly focused on their professionally or occupationally specific jobs, to where they’ve lost touch with what’s going on in the real world, and you can be sure I blame their parents for encouraging them to focus on one particular field of work, and to ‘yell’ with the rest of what the schools were teaching them. The schools are also partly to blame, because once they’d hit high school, their counselors would be encouraging the same thing.
When I was going thru school, the teachers of each subject, were far more demanding with their students to create within themselves, a broad and self-enriching education, which definitely helped me to become more knowledgeable in regards to the various subjects being offered. Of course back then, we had to have more credits under out belts before we could graduate.
With that said, I believe what turned our elections upside-down, was the fact that there were a great many ignorant people who were voting for something they absolutely did not understand. I know I’ve mentioned this before, but I’ll say it again. “The world can strip you of everything you have, except your education.” Yep, that’s it.
The highlight of my entire day, was having made it thru that Service I agreed to play for this afternoon without any sort of flub-ups, and now admitting that I was overly-anxious about playing a massive pipe organ at a church I’d never set eyes on before this past week. The reviews I received were encouraging enough to where I’ll likely do even a better job for them tomorrow morning. I mentioned to their Pastor that in even my wildest dreams, I never would’ve believed that some day I would be playing that pipe organ during one of their Services. My oh my, how quickly such opportunities can suddenly arrive. I’m hoping if tomorrow morning goes well, they’ll be asking me to play again for them from time to time. What an honor!
