Of Royal Lineage

With our city being blanketed with fog all day, created quite the somber landscape in our downtown to where old memories of such days started coming to mind of those various times I was vacationing in Northern Europe during their off seasons. Yes, Europe can be quite beautiful with those historic buildings and stunning views, but most don’t realize they can have some really gloomy days during the winter months, and since they’re higher on the globe than we are, their winter daylight hours are much shorter. Whenever I see panoramic aerial views of various Northern European cities, I can almost always spot the ones I’d visited, and only because I recognize the bigger buildings and cathedrals. The one city I still wish I’d spent more time in, was Riga which is the capital of Latvia. I’m sure it’s now become more of a tourist trap than it was when I was there.

I had to keep reminding myself that today was Thursday instead of Monday, and likely because yesterday ‘felt’ like a Sunday. I’m sure I won’t get back to normal until these broken-up weeks are over with. But, at least I managed to keep myself busied with real estate related duties.

My early afternoon meeting with a potential seller went well to where I’ll be paying them a pre-listing visit at their home tomorrow, and to the seller’s surprise, I announced that a very many years ago, I listed and sold the home they’re now living in, but of course there’d be two or three owners in between, so it’ll be interesting to see what the home looks like now. I dare say those sellers at the time were exceptionally difficult to work with, to where the wife would be on the phone with me every day and sometimes twice. I dare say after all these years, those two took up the most of my time while their home was listed, compared to all those others before and after.

I did manage to have another delightful conversation today with a past client/friend who moved to a metro area, and since we’d not spoken for a good three months, we had much to share. Before hanging up, I just had to tell her about the manic/depressive person who was back at it by having the nerve to call me recently. Since my friend is well aware of such behavior, she was quick to mention that I make sure to jot down dates and times of those calls, along with a little note-taking on what was said. She was relieved when I told her I’ve already been making such notations in my daily planner. My gosh! I still can’t believe I was hearing such crazy stuff out of the mouth of a person I once thought to be somewhat normal.

Now that we have all the inspection issues taken care of, it looks like the recent sale I had is going to close, so I’ll have to call the listing agent to see if I can put up a sold sign, just for a little more free advertisement. Regardless what you read or hear, sold signs still create lasting impressions, which is why I take advantage of such opportunities.

I did mention to my friend while on the phone with her, the soon ending of my piano/organ playing duties, and will likely take my time searching for the right ‘fit’ for my continued pro-bono services to the residents of North Iowa. I did tell her how I would more so enjoy playing for a community of faith that’s no more than a twenty minute drive from Mason City, because I’ve come to realize it would be a much better separation of work and church, and only because I’ve come to realize that playing for people you’ve crossed paths with in the business world, doesn’t always set well in a Sunday morning environment. The church I played at for a number of years, would be a classic example, but I’ll continue to take the upper road and not speak of it.

While reading the online news today, I happened upon an article about the so-called power struggle that’s been going on between Princess Anne of England and ‘Queen’ Camilla of England, and it sounds like Princess Anne has been doing all she can to keep Camilla from making unnecessary changes within the castle walls. From the sounds of it, the general public in Great Britain don’t have much of a liking for Camilla. To this day, I still can’t believe how much Queen Elizabeth II resembled my mother, and what made matters even worse, back when I was younger, there’d be people in the general public mentioning that I bore a resemblance to Prince Charles, which always was a turn-off for me because I never thought he came even close to looking like me. Another little tidbit I read today, was where one of Prince William’s children named Charlotte who’s the third in line after William, is the only one in that particular generation of offspring who has blue eyes, which according to Princess Anne, is one more confirmation of royal lineage, which is why Princess Anne is now leaving a large portion of her estate to Charlotte, just to keep Camilla from having any sort of negative effect her. I’ve always found such royal intrigue quite interesting.

Tonight’s One-liner is: Care about what other people think, and you will always be their prisoner.
