Our Yearly Path

Thank goodness the temps were high enough today where there was some melting going on, and since we were getting a light breeze from the south, that combination was likely what helped to get our sidewalks and streets melted and starting to dry off. When looking at the 10 day forecast, it appears we’ll be having above freezing temps the entire week, which will be good for all those who’re traveling out of town to celebrate Christmas with their loved ones. Yeah!

Most of my morning was spent working on my gift packages which will be going out on Christmas Eve Day, and of course I had to write special notes to each and every one of those recipients. In spite of the amount of time I end up spending on those packages, I have absolutely no regrets because they’re all very thankful to get them. I’m sure a number of them will be sending ‘Thank You’ cards which always have the most touching words of thanks written in them. Several of them have asked over the years, “Why do you do this?”, and my canned response is always, “Because I want to.” Fair enough?

I really like the new pair of shoes I purchased for winter wear, but I soon realized they’re very good at tracking, so I’ll have to leave them on the rug at the front of my office, and slip on a spare pair of dress shoes I have on hand. Yes, they’re very good for walking on ice and snow, but also good at making cat tracks on my wooden floors.

About an hour or so was spent practicing the music I have to play at St. Paul Lutheran on the 29th, along with working on several difficult pieces I’ve come close to ‘cracking’. I thought one of my favorites would be fully ready to play at St. Paul Lutheran by Easter, but since I’ll not be playing there anymore, I’ll continue to get it fully learned, just in case another community of faith calls upon me to play for them.

After hearing some very nasty gossip from a quasi-friend of mine this past week regarding yours truly which had come from the mouth of a certain nameless individual who belongs to Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, I’ll likely be sharing what was passed along to me, with my ‘go to’ person at St. Paul Lutheran. As I’ve said a very many times, we do not live in a city, but rather a bloated village where there seems to be the many’s favorite pastime of spreading hurtful gossip. Unfortunately, the person who shared such bogus information, likely has some serious issues that should’ve been addressed years ago. Isn’t it funny how some people, instead of lifting themselves up, they’d rather pull others down, just to make themselves look big. I’m not worrying about it, because Karma will get it all settled more sooner than later. After thinking long and hard about it, I’m actually glad I’ll not be playing for them any longer.

The remainder of my day was spent working over at my project which is coming along nicely, and likely before Christmas arrives, I’ll have one room completely finished, which’ll trigger me to be all the more on a burn to get it fully completed. Without a doubt, it’s been a long journey, but now seeing how well it’s coming together, I’m not sorry I made the choice to take it on. I can’t wait for the day when I’ll be calling my dear friend to go and look at the finished product, and especially because I know how much she loves beautiful doors, windows and woodwork.

My heart goes out to the families of those poor people who were killed while shopping at a Christmas market in Germany. I’m sure that incident is going to create all the more hatred in Germany of those who’re not of Germanic blood. Yes, sometimes that’s all it takes is an incident like that to create societal unrest, which will likely trigger that genetically pre-disposed German ‘angst’, which is sometimes a good thing, but can also be very bad. Just remember, Hitler came to power thru stoking the flames of fear in the minds of the Germans.

Thank goodness the day finally arrived where our sun has taken an about-face, so we’re now on our yearly path of moving back toward more daylight hours once again. My gosh! It’s sure gonna be nice when I’ll be driving to work with the sun, and arriving home with it still shining.

Tonight’s One-liner is: The three kinds of people I dislike most, are Gossips, Liars, and Hypocrites.
