Shoes Make The Horse

Today was definitely a stress-filled Thursday, but fortunately the ‘problem child’ closing I was working on most of the morning, finally managed to get pulled together to where we’re actually going to make it happen tomorrow. I couldn’t help mentioning to the seller how much I don’t like all the many loose ends so close to closing, because whenever one ends up being rushed, oft times there are oversights which subsequently haunt those involved.

A long-time friend/colleague stopped by the office this morning to get some information he was needing, and once I provided it, we sat and had a very good conversation regarding today’s political climate, and since he’s very much up to speed on the whole process, I sat and listened to several very sad stories about deeply fractured family relationships which were created by the wide division in their political beliefs, and especially the maniacal way in which a group of them insist that ‘D.T.’ is the one and only candidate that has the credentials to run this country. He strongly suggested they stop watching Fox News, or should it be call it by its real name which is Fox Entertainment, but they wouldn’t hear of it. Yes, it in these times, they can freely twist the truth completely around, just to get ratings, which in my book, is a sin in and of itself.

I then had to share several stories about two 90+ year old great-grannies who’ve definitely got themselves completely propagandized by the television programs they’re watching day in and day out. I couldn’t help telling one of them how disappointed I was with her, because years ago, she wasn’t someone who believed everything that was told her. But of course, she’s got money, and likely the news feeds she’s watching, are making her believe her piles of cash’ll be taken away if ‘D.T.’ doesn’t get elected. How crazy can it be when finding once level-headed people, end up becoming totally duped in such short spans of time?

What got my visitor a bit stirred, was when I shared something I was told by a psychic/clairvoyant who insisted that people needn’t have any fears of Obama during his two terms, but most definitely the one that followed, which really went to my core when finding who the next president ended up being. For as long as I live, I’ll never forget that prophecy, which for me, was spot-on. Yes, my long-overdue visit with him ended up being the highlight of my day.

I thought it kinda creepy/cool when having to listen to several crazy, but sad stories from people in our general public, which had to do with one of the many silly ordinances our city has in place, when just last night, I spoke about them. The one I heard this afternoon, was so unbelievably un-hinged, I dare not even write about it, because most of you wouldn’t even believe it had even a thread of truth.

After being a good two weeks past my normal time of having my hair cut, I finally managed to get it cut today, and believe me, I was feeling all the lighter afterwards. For whatever reason, it was taking the person cutting my hair, much longer than normal, but in the end, it did appear to be a good job done. Silly me, always has to come up with a few clever sayings, and one of them being, “Shoes make the horse.” after she made a flattering comment about the shoes I was wearing. Of course being so young, she didn’t understand what that meant, so I had to explain myself. Too funny.

We somehow ended up talking about the many small cemeteries we have all over Northern Iowa, and one in particular being the most creepy, which is located about an hour’s drive from here, which was started way back in the mid-1800’s., and believe me, some of those grave markers would be enough to raise the hair on the backs of most. I doubt the bulk of those townspeople pay much attention, and likely because they’d grown used to them.

It was quite the rainstorm we had this afternoon which was followed by hail, which I had to wait until it was all over before I could close up my office for the day. Tonight’s photo is of a pile of hail that a downspout sent down. Thank goodness those hailstones weren’t any larger, or we would’ve had a real mess on our hands. Global warming and climate change is once again manifesting itself.

Tonight’s One-liner is: The more you like yourself, the less you are like anyone else, which makes you unique.
