24 – 3rd St. NE, In Nora Springs

Without a doubt, my day was fully consumed with appointments, office visits, some extra deep-digging research on a given home, and just about everything else a real estate professional would happen to find on his or her plate over the course of a day.

Fortunately we didn’t have the high winds or hail with last night’s rainstorm, and for sure we did need the moisture, just to help get our late crops to their stages of maturity. From the looks of this morning’s puddles, I’d say we received more than I was expecting. My tomatoes and cucumbers are now offering up more than I can personally use, so I’ll be making random deliveries from now until the first frost arrives. I’m definitely getting my fill of them each and every day.

We did finally come together on the offer I had on one of my listings, and glad for it because I’m convinced it was a perfect match-up with house to its buyers. I couldn’t help thinking it was one of those rare occasions where the house picked the buyers. Believe it or not, I’d long ago come to that conclusion because there’ve been certain homes over the years that should’ve sold long before they did, until one day the ‘perfect fit’ arrived, and to top it all off, those buyers normally lived in those homes much longer than our national average.

Just after I finished up with that sale, it was the hour for me to head over to 24 – 3rd St. NE in Nora Springs which I was scheduled to list this afternoon. For tonight’s photo, I posted the exterior shot of it, and come early tomorrow morning, I’ll have the listing and photos fully disseminated out into the cyber universe.

First of all, it’s definitely getting listed as a handyman special because it’s in great need of some updating. Fortunately the owner had the wiring updated, the furnace is newer, and many of the windows replaced with thermals. The roof is only about 15 years old, so that’s good to go for likely another fifteen. The owner’s leaving some building materials behind which a buyer could put to use.

I’ve always liked the flaring French mansard style of roofs which this home has, but unfortunately the exterior is in need of some tender-loving-care. What I’ve found interesting, is the fact that there are a number of similar roof designs within the older district of Nora Springs, so evidently there must’ve been a popular builder at the time who was used to build homes for people back in the late 1800’s. I’m already suspecting there’ll be a certain individual who currently lives over there, calling and wanting to take a look at it. Last but not least, the asking price on it is a low $49,500, which is well below what it’s assessed at.

Around mid-week, I was pretty certain I’d have my weekend free of real estate work, but unfortunately I already have appointments scheduled for both Saturday and Sunday. As much as I want to get some of my personal projects completed, my real estate job always comes first. It looks like I’ll be getting another home listed Sunday afternoon which will likely sell right out of the gates, and only because of it’s price range.

While on the phone with a very near and dear person today, I couldn’t help mentioning an episode I had yesterday which rarely ever takes place, and it all began with a conversation I was having with a client who was relaying unsettling information I really didn’t want to hear, and only because it was making me exceptionally angry towards several people who’d started it all.

I soulfully told my dear one today that I ended up getting so angry that I could actually ‘feel’ it leaving my body, and where it went flying off to, is beyond me. Over all these years, I dare say I could count on one hand how many times I’ve been furious to the point where I could almost see it leaving my body. Now if I were living in the Greco-Roman times, one would say I set the Furies loose. Hopefully it won’t happen again anytime soon because I really do not like getting that upset. My one-liner touches a little on what triggered my anger yesterday, but without a doubt it’s continually happening in our community, our State, our Country and the world in which we live, so let’s not allow ourselves to be a part of an evil passivity.

Tonight’s One-liner is: Bullies may be the perpetrators of evil, but it is the evil of passivity of all those who know what is happening and never intervene which perpetuates such abuse.
