My usual early Sunday morning exercise went as well as expected, and once finished, I changed into my work clothes and headed out for an extended stint of mowing and trimming, and by the time I was completely finished with it all, it was fast approaching the Noon hour, so I made a quick stop at Taco Tico and purchased my usual two hard-shell tacos smothered in hot sauce, which I took home and had for lunch.
Once I had a short period of rest, I went out and worked in my garden for a good three hours which was beginning to get out of hand with that nasty crab grass and purslane which I swear is more like a succulent, and only because if you don’t get the roots pulled out, they grow back again, and if there happens to be a few stems or leaves left behind, they’ll also start growing new plants. With all of this rain we’ve been getting, I’ve never before seen purslane grow as fast and spreading out as far as it was. Well, I dare say, those three hours were well-spent because that section of garden is now about as weed-free as it could possibly get for now.
Being a little on the proud side, I just had to take the above photo of the garden area I was working in today, which still has me saying, “Wow!”, considering how late I planted those carrots, beets and Buttercup squash. I’m exceptionally happy over those carrots which are now creating a sea of green, along with the beets that are growing gangbusters. But, I’m a little disappointed over those squash plants because the seeds I purchased, were supposed to grow in a clump instead of sending out all those many runners. Well, I had to cut off a good ten or twelve of the larger runners which were reaching into the carrots and beginning to crawl up the fencing. Hopefully they’ll now stay more contained, and if not, I’ll be clipping them once again. They’re beginning to flower now, which is a positive sign.
Since I was out in nature most of the day, I took about six photos which I’ll be sharing in the coming days, and in spite of being in near non-stop motion all the day long, I’m now considering it one of the better Sunday’s I’ve had, and especially my having been able to work all day instead of having my morning eaten up with playing at a church. I’m actually quite glad I’m now back to playing every other Sunday at St. Paul Lutheran, which allows me more time to work on my own little projects.
This journal page is a bit on the short side, and only because there really wasn’t much else happening today other than mowing, trimming and gardening, and with that said, I’m wishing you all a pleasant and restful evening.
