Not even thinking it was going to rain today, I put myself on a fast-track to get the remaining boxes belonging to the owner of the home I’ve been helping with, and sure enough, not moments after they were all securely placed, the wind came up and shortly thereafter the downpours arrived. I’ll have to look and see how much rain we did receive because there were streams of water at the curbsides in some areas.
There was another home my long-term buyers wanted to see this afternoon, so I had to get that arranged, along with printing out all the accompanying documents I’d be supplying them upon our meeting at the house.
Not much was happening at office around mid-day, so I kept myself busy with the a little putzing here and there in my work areas, along with making some calls to sellers who had Realtors wanting to show their properties.
With our year being well over half over, I sat down and studied the list of continuing education courses available thru December, and fortunately I did manage to get enough shorter time-framed ones picked out which I’ll be signing up for tomorrow. Having had to endure too many years of listening to nearly the same old stuff for eight hours, I decided to split them up into four hour courses, and glad for it because I’ve come to the point of hating those grueling eight hours where I’d have to fight myself to keep from falling asleep. Yes, they’re that boring.
My closing went very well today, and happy to say we had another ‘soft-landing’, and for sure the buyers were still showing excitement over their new purchase. I’m sure there’ll be some bitter-sweet moments when they begin their move, because they’ve lived in the same home for well over fifty years. There’s no doubt they’ll be a good fit over at Prairie Place on 1st, and certainly welcomed with open arms. I can’t believe how many calls we’ve been getting on those units these past two weeks, which is definitely a positive sign should another one come available.
It ended up being a very long day for me, and only because once I showed my buyers that home, they decided to have me write an offer on it, so off to my office we went, and by the time I had all the docs signed, copied and emailed over to the listing agent, it was fast approaching the hour of six. I sure hope we can get that sale put together because we’ve missed out on far too many homes these recent months, and only because of there being multiple offers on them. Unfortunately, there are a great many young buyers out there who really don’t care how much more they have to pay for a home they’ve fallen in ‘like’ with.
When visiting with several people today about Kamala Harris now being the Democratic candidate, they’re of the belief that she’ll be pulling in more younger voters, and especially the females who’re in that 40 – 60 age bracket. I also have this ‘feeling’ there’s going to be a kicking back on the Republican Party over their having placed restrictions on a female’s rights, and especially here in Iowa. Our Govornor’s surrounded herself with too many ultra-conservatives, who’ve got her believing the bulk of Iowa’s voters are in agreement with her. She and the ‘team’ she created, may find themselves out of jobs if the pendulum suddenly swings back and hits them in their faces. We’ll see.
