My first duty of the day was to get all the photos I’d taken of our new listing up in Northwood added and then disseminated out into the cyber-universe. As chance would have it, there was an inquiring call that came in on it before noontime from someone living out of State, so hopefully that near-immediate interest will be a sign that it’ll go under contract quickly. For the money, it’s definitely a good home, and especially for all the many first-time buyers who’re looking for a place to plant their roots.
Around mid-morning, I had to meet the new buyers of one of our Prairie Place units, just so they could have another good look at it, along with showing several of their out of town relatives who were here visiting. We were there for quite a while, but it was all good, and before leaving, I had a chance to have a good visit with one of their residents whom I’d not seen in some time.
Since I had the rest of the afternoon free, the first thing I had to do, was run over to the hardware store and purchase another gallon of weed killer and then head out to get some serious spraying done. For sure all this rain we’ve been getting has been promoting their growth. I’m quite impressed with the new way in which they’re marketing their spray bottles by adding a battery which pumps the weed killer out of the wand. It sure beats having to stop and pump air back into those bottles.
After my spraying was done, I made sure to get myself fully protected against the black gnats before I went outdoors and worked at stripping the near-black varnish off of picture mouldings I’d removed from a bedroom. I dare say there was a good two and a half hours spent on getting all of them stripped and readied for a good coat of varnish. Without a doubt, the stripping of picture mouldings, along with door and window capitals are the most tedious and time consuming. I do have all the capitals stripped, and once I get those picture moldings done, the rest of it’ll move along all the faster. I don’t even want to think about how much stripping I’ve done over the years, but after my little/big project is over, I highly doubt I’ll ever take on another woodwork-stripping project again. I’m working hard at the last, being the very best. How’s that?
On my way back to change my clothes, I happened to run into a couple who’ve been acquaintances of mine for a number of years, and for whatever reason, they asked if I’d stop over and have a chat on their charming patio, and since I had nothing pressing, I made the time.
Pretty much the main subject of our conversation was centered around the elections coming up, and thank goodness they’re definitely not fans of D.T., because the last time his name was brought up with an old colleague of mine, I just about got my face ripped off. Since they were asking my opinion, about all I could say was, “I’ve got this very deep and gnawing ‘feeling’ that if he gets elected again, our Country’s gonna turn into something none of us would’ve ever expected, and for certain, it’s gonna be bad, so make sure you have a valid passport if all ‘yell’ does break loose.” Because they had me on a roll, I had to admit that the random times in my life where I’ve had such ‘feelings’ about something, I can’t remember them not turning out otherwise. So there you have it. I’ve given my warning.
I also had to mention how idiotic it was for D.T. to come out and publicly say Liz Cheney needs to go before a military tribunal and be tried for treason. Now tell me truthfully, how can anyone even think someone with that sort of mindset is mentally fit to be the President of the United States? Of course I still vividly remember being personally threatened several years ago by an old guy who likely still believes the sun rises and sets on D.T., and let me tell you, he was completely ‘out of it’ when thinking I opened up the door to a room that had guns in it, when in fact, that room was completely empty. That was an episode never to be forgotten because I wasn’t sure if I was going to get out of there alive. Yes, it was one very bizarre happening. Heaven only knows what kind of medications he was on at the time.
It’s almost looking like we’re gonna have rain again, so I’ll have to do some checking online to see if it’s on the way. I’ll be playing the organ at St. Paul Lutheran tomorrow, so hopefully there’ll be a good turnout if it’s not raining. My gosh, I can’t believe how quickly this summer has been passing.
