Now that we’re nearly half-way thru the month of March, it’ll be a mere seven more days and we can officially announce the end of winter and the beginning of Spring. While walking a number of blocks to a mechanic’s shop, I happened to notice a robin darting about in a grassy area, and for sure, they’ve also arrived earlier than normal which caused me to wonder when it actually first appeared.
My first appointment of the day was at a scheduled showing I had out on the east side of the city. As I suspected, my buyer wasn’t completely taken by it, but at least it wasn’t completely dismissed. My goodness! The interior of that home has certainly changed since I last sold it a number of years ago. When getting a better look at its ‘bones’, I’m relatively certain it was moved onto that site, and only because that particular subdivision was platted long after it was built. Yes, there were a very many homes that were moved in our city back when our downtown was expanding and new roadways created.
Once I arrived back at office, it was time for me to meet with a contractor who was called to make some repairs to a structure, and since I’ve known the owner for a number of years, we had a nice chat about the possibilities of expanding his business which for whatever reason, he was more receptive to it today. That company has always done good work for fair prices which is why I’ll always wish them the very best.
Between phone calls, desk work and running errands for myself and others, the hours seemed to quietly slip past me, and when noticing it was nearing the closing hour, I thought it best to give my long-time acquaintance who lives out east a call. Unfortunately we didn’t connect, so I’ll have to try again over the weekend.
I definitely bristled when reading where our illustrious Ashley Hinson managed to get a million dollars given to our city for updates in the water supply in the commercial district out on the southwest side of our city. First of all, I’ve always been and always will be against pork barrel legislation and only because they’re added onto more important legislation benefiting the general public. She must’ve been following suit with Lauren Boebert who also got a pork barrel for her district in Colorado.
I believe the both of them are far too young, impetuous and inexperienced. Of course I’m finding many in their group seem to enjoy dressing like ‘Barbies’ with their red outfits, red lipstick and bleached-white teeth. I’m also coming to find even more seats in our House of Representatives being filled with those in possession of withering scruples and clouded ethics.
That grant to update the water supply would’ve been very low on the list of our city’s priorities, so I’m left wondering if some special interest group managed to bend her ear during her last visit. For whatever reason, I’ve been getting bot calls from her, and since I don’t pick up, there’s always a self-promoting message that’s left. I dare say she knows how to work the crowd, and likely because she used to be a reporter for one of our State’s news feeds. That flaming red lipstick is always a dead giveaway.
It’s pretty sad when knowing it’ll go down in our record books where our House of Representatives was the least productive in well over 50 years, and possibly even longer. What burns my bottom the most, is the hold-up in funding the Ukrainians who’re fighting for their lives, and believe you me, if Putin wins that war, there’ll be no stopping him from taking another ex-Soviet Satellite State. I sure as ‘yell’ would rather see Ukrainians fighting the Russians instead of American boots on the ground if Putin crosses the red line of Nato territories. My God in Heaven, I can’t believe those Representatives aren’t critically forward-thinking. Oh that’s right. They’re too busy working at getting the most attention from the medias no matter what shite’s coming out of their pie holes.
My music schedules arrived in my email last night, so I now have every Sunday booked with three churches in our downtown area for the month of April. I’m actually looking forward to accompanying a music director’s solo performances over at First Baptist Church. Yes, it’s gonna be a welcome breath of fresh air whenever having the opportunity to follow a beautiful voice. It’s been far too long since I’ve had goosebumps while listening to a soloist’s voice who’s standing nearby. Unbeknownst to him, I’ve already got two pieces readied for him to pick from.
Shortly after I arrived home, I did a quick check-up on the bed of garlic I planted last Fall, and not to my surprise, I found it’s already up a good two inches, which I’m not the happiest about because we’re likely going to get some freezing nights which will have an adverse effect on its growth. Oh well, in good ways and bad, it’s looking to be a growing season that’ll be remembered for years to come.
A call came in today from a prospective buyer who’s showing some interest in the condo I have listed at Prairie Place on 1st. After all the many questions were answered, I’m near-certain I’ll be getting a call to set up a showing. For sure there won’t be a money issues with that particular buyer because that family has been well known in our area for generations.
