Another abnormally warm day arrived, and likely due to the wind coming from a southerly direction. It’s too bad we couldn’t get some much-needed rain from one of those atmospheric rivers which have been pouring down on California. From what I’ve been reading, it sounds like their reservoirs will be fully replenished with extra to spare. I’m beginning to wonder if these off-the-wall weather patterns are mirroring the collective consciousness of today’s world. Yes, we all know there’s been a number of great character changes in our society since the pandemic hit.
Since I hadn’t spoken with my dear friend in about a week, I thought it best to call and see how she was doing. Much of our conversation was about music, and since she mentioned how much she liked some of the classics, I had to add that the works of certain composers do have a positive effect on the listeners of their music. I was glad to find her as peppery as always.
I thought for sure I’d be getting a call from one of yesterday’s buyers saying they wanted to make an offer, but instead, I received a message saying they wanted to take a second look at one from yesterday, so I scheduled a showing for tomorrow morning. I’m still staying positive they’ll end up pulling the trigger.
After finishing up with some accounting, I spent some time reading today’s news feeds, and of course whenever reading about all the nonsense that’s taking place in Congress, leaves me wondering if any of them have an ounce of common sense left. The more I’ve been reading about Mike Johnson, I’m becoming convinced he’s got some frightening hidden agendas which he’s been justifying as directions coming from God. He’s said said something about having a ‘Red Sea Moment’, and you can bet there’ve already been some religious scholars who’re now shaking their fingers of warning at him.
Speaking of religion, I was in conversation with one of the ‘MAGA’ subscribers a number of days ago, who insisted that the reason our main-line Christian denominations are losing members, is because they’ve become far too inclusive which is turning their rank-and-file members off. Well, I read another article today where it’s just the opposite, because it’s those hard-liners from the alt-right who’re upsetting their regulars to the point where they no longer wish to be part of those congregations. Like they’ve always said, it takes but one bad apple to spoil a barrel. A common element I’ve found whenever in conversation with one of those alt-right wingers, is their verbal intensity, along with the way they look at you with their glaring eyes.
Another article I found interesting, was one which talked about Covid being the great societal disruptor, which I was personally convinced of, back when this impetuous buying and selling started taking place, and it’s still not over.
The author believes that because of the Covid ‘lock-downs’, people began turning away from those multi-generational practices like going to church on Sunday, being proudly self-sufficient, and planning for their futures. Because of Covid, church attendance is down because we were assured it wasn’t that important to be there in person, our average workers were given money from the government as a Covid-relief, work ethics took a nose dive, and attitudes turned selfish, dark and dis-trusting.
What we’re now faced with, are the many who’re refusing to make the most of one’s talents, contribute to society, enjoy responsibility and making an effort to pass something on to others. Relationships are weak, more are not wanting to have children, and the concept of ‘quiet quitting’ has taken hold in our workforce, and you can rest assured, it’s even happening right here in ‘the last outpost’. I’ve mentioned before how concerned I am about the ‘fibers’ that bind our society, being frayed and broken to the point where in the end, will create upheavals our Country has never before witnessed. Is there hope? I believe so, but only if our society in general can come to the understanding that we must work together when attempting to fix those things that are now broken in our families, our churches, our workplaces and our governments, and yes, there must be a give and take from all of us to make it happen. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.
Oh, I forgot to mention my having watched ‘Sister Act 2’ several nights ago which ended up being so good, I shed a few tears. Yes, it was that inspiring.
