Another gray January day arrived, but I wasn’t complaining because the wind wasn’t blowing and the temps were tolerable, and thankfully they were high enough to melt off the light snow-cover from several days ago.
I kept myself busied most of the day with bank runs, shopping for office supplies, and preparing my workstation for the many hours it’ll take to get my tax information sorted out and journaled, but at least I’m even more on top of it, than I was last year.
While out at Staples, I was shocked when finding how expensive a regular box of envelopes were, and since I was in need of another one, I was forced to pay $10.99 for a box. Yes, I do have office envelopes with Holtz Realty’s logo printed on them, but I still have to have blank ones for my non-real estate mailings. Of course I had to swallow hard and pay nearly $35.00 for my yearly desk planner which I absolutely cannot live without. Yes, the costs of various paper products have certainly gone thru the roof.
As much as I was expecting a call from an agent today regarding an offer we’ve been negotiating on, there wasn’t a peep, so I guess those buyers have now lost interest, so it’s back to square-one again, and the creepiest of it all, was having a gut feeling there’d be no return call. Oh well, all we can do is try. Right?
My mid-afternoon appointment was with the owners of the home we’re closing on Friday, and since they’ll not be in attendance, I had them come today, just so we could get all the transfer documents signed and notarized.
After that was completed, we had a good long chat about about past events in our downtown, and since we’ve known each other for a very many years, we could speak without filters. It didn’t surprise me a bit when discovering they share the same feelings about all the money our City has wasted over these 10+ years, and all because a handful of very naughty monkeys managed to get what they wanted, and to ‘yell’ with the rest of our taxpaying citizens who’re going to be bearing a financial yoke for a whole lot of years to come. We can blame it all on those non-natives who managed to infiltrate and then manipulate. Yes, there’s much to be said about the quiet majority who were born and raised here. I’ve found it funny but not when seeing the bulk of those who made a very good living here in Mason City, not long after retiring, selling out and moving far and away from community which financially enabled them. You can bet I remember nearly every single one of them.
I had an interesting chat with a gentleman today who’s done work in many homes, apartments and offices over the years, and wasn’t a bit surprised when he insisted there’d been times when he almost had to fight with himself to keep working in some of them, and only because they were causing him to feel depressed, and after experiencing it enough times, he swears it’s the bad karma from those who either worked or lived in those places which was affecting him.
Well, having done a little more than a little reading on the subject of quantum physics, I mentioned that non-living things absorb and store those bad energies, which over time, begin radiating outward, so it comes as no surprise when certain people who’re more ‘sensitive’ to those bad energies, become psychologically affected by them. I also went on to say that even areas of our earth are cursed with bad energy which can be felt by those they call clairsentiets which are the rare breeds, so if you happen to come in contact with a person who can suddenly pick up on another’s feelings or the energies in a certain location, be sure to pay attention to what you’re being told.
Without naming names, I know of a woman who’s somewhat of a hoarder, and in her basement she has stored-away, some items which were removed from a very haunted house, and to this day, I’m convinced the reason she’s a bit on the un-hinged side, is because the long-term exposure to those items, has likely permanently affected her thought processes. As far as I’m concerned, she’s definitely a die-hard conspiracy theorist, and so much so, she keeps all her shades and drapes pulled, just to make sure those that have been ‘secretly’ watching her, can’t see within, or so she believes. Yes, there’s some pretty scary stuff going on in her tight inner-circle.
While at a groceteria today, I happened to run into a gentleman I’ve come to passingly know, and for whatever reason, we ended up talking about family relationships, the needs of children, and the problems that arise from second marriages where children from previous relationships are thrown together. It seemed the more I offered examples, the more he became plugged-into what I was sharing, and after giving one last striking example out of my own past, his face flushed and he became teary-eyed, which of course triggered a near similar reaction with me, and as he was walking off, he said, “Those words really hit home.”
As I was driving home and thinking about our conversation, I felt confident that what I was sharing, was something he was needing, because during our conversation, I insisted that most men are afraid to share their inner thoughts with others, and only because they were taught to be that way by their parents and grandparents. Remember back in the day when it was strongly frowned upon when seeing boys cry? Well, it’s been that way for generations, and it’ll likely take a few more before it’s no longer part of our customs and social mores. Isn’t it interesting how the random crossing of paths, can create long term effects, or were they random indeed?
Tonight’s One-liner is: I will venture to maintain that where the teacher is not pleasing to the pupil, there is no education.
