Even though our day started out being a cold one, just after the Noon hour, the wind changed directions and I could feel it beginning to warm up. When visiting with a client this morning, he said we’re supposed to have temps well into the 50’s for the coming two or three days. Now won’t that be a treat?
For whatever reason, our mail system seems to be getting worse by the month, and just today I remembered my not having received a bill for some advertising I had published early in November, so I called my account rep and asked if he would have it emailed to me, because should’ve received that bill a week ago, but still nothing. There must be a growing labor shortage with our postal workers because not only has my office mail been coming late, my home deliveries are as well. Not having available help with the Post Office is definitely a first for me because in the past, landing a job with them would’ve been like winning the lottery.
There wasn’t much of anything on the real estate side worth mentioning tonight, but the highlight of my day, was a luncheon date I had with a ‘reli’ of mine whom I’d not had a opportunity to have a good visit with for at least two years. We decided to have lunch at L D’s because they serve breakfast all day long, and since I’ve had their breakfasts for lunch before, I was definitely in the mood for a repeat.
Even though it wasn’t even close to being Noon, they were filling up fast, so we grabbed a booth, and then made some quick choices off their menu, just so we could get some really good visiting done.
Because I’d not had the opportunity to talk about some of the landmines that were set for me this past year, I went ahead and did a fast-track update on those happenings. Since we’re close blood relatives, we came to the conclusion that not only looks are inherited, but character traits as well. Yes, the two of us had some interesting past happenings to share which at the time, were evil-minded deeds which were purposely carried out, just to make as suffer, but unfortunately for those perpetrators, it ended up being their loss because there’ve been a number of doors doors slammed shut, and nevermore to be opened.
When we were getting ready to leave, I insisted we make a point in having lunch at least once every month or two, because I could sense we both had a very good time while enjoying our eggs, sausage patties and hash browns. I definitely got some extra protein today.
Upon return to office, I had emails and phone calls to make which took up the greater part of my afternoon, and mostly because of an extended conversation I was having with a client who’s seriously thinking about selling one of his investment properties next year. When looking back at when I sold it to him, I was shocked when seeing how long ago it’d been, which prompted me to announce that he’ll be getting way more for it than he paid way back then. Unfortunately there’s been a long-term tenant living there who’ll not be a happy camper over it getting listed for sale.
It came as a bit of a shock when reading where Kevin McCarthy resigned from his position in the House of Representatives, which is now making me wonder who’ll be next. The more I’ve been reading about Mike Johnson who’s now our new Speaker of the House, the more I’m convinced he’s got some serious religious thoughts which he’s trying to inject into the the minds of our general public. Without a doubt, he’s definitely a classic example of an alt-right religious zealot who believes there should be no separation of church and State.
When you stop and think about it, living in a country where you have someone like that in power, one would be living in a country similar to Iran where their religious leader has the last say, and just as the radical muslims interpret the Koran to suit their own personal agendas, we’d have a leader of our country taking passages out of the Bible to fit his or her own agendas. What really got me, was when a reporter asked Mike Johnson his views on how his role as Speaker will be in the future, and Mike replying something like, “It’s all in the Bible.” Now how crazy can some be? Having been fully versed on the Bible, I dare say a person can twist passages around to fit just about any situation. Ok, for example, we have one line in the Bible saying, ‘An eye for and eye, and a tooth for a tooth.”, and then a complete opposite line insisting, “Vengeance is mine says the Lord.’, and believe me, there are a very many other passages that are contradictory. At the end of the day, I’ve come to believe the Bible was simply created as a general guide for becoming an all-around better person in the eyes of our Creator.
We’ve been getting more showings on 1715 N. Delaware lately, which is making me all the more hopeful I’ll end up selling it to a gentleman whom I’ve shown it to several times already, and it sounds like he’s gonna want to see it again this weekend which is fine by me, so please put it ‘out there’ I get it sold.
Now that we’re barreling down towards Christmas, I’ve been looking for something to purchase which I can give as gifts to a number of elderly people I know, so just this morning I happened to find a website which was offering various calendars for sale, but I’m not yet sure I want to spend that much money on them, so I’m gonna get a good sleep on it tonight, and make my decision tomorrow morning. My gosh! I didn’t realize until today how expensive good calendars now are.
Tonight’s One-liner is: I do not believe that the same God who has endowed us with sense, reason, and intellect, has intended us to forgo their use.
