I was up and out early enough to be one of the first people entering the West Hy-Vee, and the only reason I went there, was to check out an in-store meat special one of my clients mentioned yesterday, and luckily they still had several packages left, so I ended up buying both of them. Yes, I do give them credit for doing their deep discounts, and likely because their expiration dates are drawing near, which is far better than sending that ‘expired’ meat to their dumpsters. I don’t have a bit of problem with aged beef and pork, but I quickly back away from un-frozen fish and sometimes chicken if it looks even the slightest bit questionable.
Once I arrived at office, I busied myself with returning emails, and then immersing myself in some super-deep research which had me possessed for well over two hours, but I did manage to find all the information I needed, just so I could pass it on to a client who’d asked for my assistance. Some may think research to be quite boring, but for me it becomes a challenge, and especially when I find myself turning over all the many more ‘rocks’ to get answers.
Wish me luck Saturday morning with my second showing of 1715 N. Delaware to a buyer I showed it to last Saturday, and since that home’s priced lower than most, and definitely in move-in condition, there’s really not much out there to compare it with. At least I’m still getting showings on my listings during our seasonal ‘quiet time’ for real estate sales.
Over these past weeks I was getting hammered on by another agency about a lingering issue which I assured them would be rectified before the end of this month, but in spite of my assurances, the language in that agent’s emails was growing all the more disrespectful and demanding.
Yes, the issue was resolved late yesterday afternoon, which I thought would be the end of those emails, but of course I was being sniped in another email late this afternoon, so I took a deep breath and responded in a very curt fashion, and only because that’s all that agent needed to do, was to place a phone call to the person who received what was needed to correct the problem. After I sent it off, I kept thinking how his language would’ve been much different if he were in my presence because I wouldn’t have stood for it. Yes, these people who hide behind their texting cell phones and emails, really need to go back and take a full course on decorum. I’m now making another one of my undeclared resignations when insisting, like truly attracts like in all areas of our lives.
Not to be beating a dead horse with my bringing up that text-a-thon I was part of over a month ago, I can freely say there’s no question in my mind, the language and accusations sent my way, would’ve never got past first base if that ‘texter’ were standing before me, because there would’ve been a near-instant verbal ‘slap-down’. I’d always suspected that person to be a coward, and that very afternoon, it was fully confirmed. All my life, I’ve despised those who out of their own sick enjoyment, start un-necessary battles which others end up having to finish.
I had a meeting with a young gentleman today whom I believe is one of those rare ‘old souls’ who likely came down his ‘chute’ with more of a core understanding about how interconnected we all are with every living thing. Yes, such people are definite rarities in these times, and for sure I’ll be wishing the absolute best for him.
One of my colleagues stopped by today to talk about how high our rental housing costs have increased, and when I was told that just recently, a landlord was asking $900 for a small two bedroom, 1 bath duplex with a single garage, and the tenants being responsible for all the utilities. Being familiar with the location and over-all condition of that duplex, had me all the more in shock.
I guess such rents are to be expected when seeing how expensive ‘The River’ apartments are which are located south of the Mall, and after reading the negative online reviews of those units, I’m not one bit surprised. Like I’ve said, give that ticky-tacky build-out ten more years, and you definitely see its devolution, and to think, their building another one of them just down the street. You can now see a big sign posted on it saying, ‘Taking Applications’. I’m sorry to say, those two build-outs will likely in the end, turn into low-end tenement housing for those with housing vouchers.
With about an hour to kill, I went back and grabbed my long-abandoned book which I ordered months ago, just so I could pick up where I left off. Now that I’m getting into it more, I’m finding that the author Mikhail Zygar, really did his research on the history of Eastern Europe and Russia. He’s also been very good about pointing out facts about Russia and Ukraine which were purposely swept under the rug by the generations of Russian dictators. Yes, if you’d like to get a better picture of how the country of Ukraine actually came into existence and subsequently survived the many brutalities they’ve had to endure, give ‘War and Punishment’ a good read. Yes, it’s been an eye-opener, and I’m not even half thru it.
Once midnight hits, we’ll be free of my not so favorite month of November, but at least it wasn’t near as bad as it normally is, so hopefully December’s temps won’t be so bitter. Whenever nearing the end of the year, I always hold my breath in hopes we don’t have those two bitterly cold weeks which normally arrive around the end of December and the first of January. I still have shuddering thoughts about those December tornados North Iowa got hit with several years ago.
