In spite of it being a sunny day, Mother Nature decided to turn that north wind around and begin blowing it from the south, which brought back upon us, all that cold air we’d already experienced, so we’ll have to give it a day or two before we get the real warm air from the south.
We did manage to get one of my listings sold today, so hopefully it’ll be the first of many for the remainder of this year. It’s always given me a boost whenever selling something on the first day of a given month, and yes, it’s been a roller-coaster year thus far, but I’ll continue to remain thankful and grateful for my ‘core’ faithful and loyal clients and customers.
I got a good taste of the twenty-something degree temps this morning with my having been out to look at a home I’m hoping to get listed in the near future, and after I my return to office, I went back and did some thorough investigating of past sales, and once I had a pretty good ‘feel’ for that home’s value, I called the seller to share my thoughts on what it should be priced at. Unfortunately, we’re living in a market where lipsticked pigs are out-selling the rock-solid homes that’ve been testaments to the master builders we used to have as contractors. Yes, back in those days, their end products were always their calling cards.
A call came in from a person asking to see my new listing over at 1859 Springview Drive tomorrow, so let’s hope it’ll be a good fit for that individual. For sure it’s likely the least expensive twin-home that’s been on the market it years, and as chance would have it, I happened to find the floor plans for it, which I’ll be sure to include in the print-outs I’ll be giving that prospective buyer. It’s always nice to have those on hand whenever possible, and only because a buyer can more easily envision furniture placement and traffic flow.
When glancing at the clock late this afternoon, I was a bit shocked when seeing the hour of closing had already rolled around, so I finished up what I was doing, and called it quits for the day, and before heading home, I made sure to stop at several of my listings, just to make sure their furnaces were working properly. Yes, during these cold months, I’m always all the more fretful over furnaces going out. I’ll never forget the night where it was 20 below zero and having to meet a HVAC contractor over at a home without heat, and wouldn’t you know, I had to stand outside and hold a ladder while he went up on the roof to clear out a high-efficiency furnace’s exhaust vent, of a build-up of frost. I’m sure that poor fellow will never forget that night as well. When I woke up the next morning, for a moment I thought that harrowing experience was all a bad dream.
During my lunch hour, I went back and re-watched that video a friend of mine sent me regarding the ‘cloud feudalism’ that’s slowly eroding our liberties, and all because we have this handful of multi-billion dollar companies controlling the online platforms far too many of us are using, and Amazon happens to be one of them. The second time around, I was paying even closer attention to his explanation regarding when it all started, and how we got to this point.
Unfortunately, most of our general public has come to believe it’s just the way the world now is, and it’s just OK, because they’re not stepping back and then critically thinking forward. Yes, most in our developed nations, have been programmed to think only in the ‘now’, and not recalling past events or future outcomes.
I’ve followed such happenings on the personal side of my life, and came to the sad conclusion that those involved in the many hateful acts, never looked ahead far enough to realize, they were hurting themselves in the long-run even more so. As a result, our governments, our families and friends, are unaware that they’re negatively affecting their futures, and only because they’ve lost their abilities to envision the causes and effects of their ‘in the now’ choices.
I’m totally convinced our own city government has become a feudal fiefdom where at times, a mindless select few at the top, are making decisions which are going to have an adverse effect on the citizens of our bloated village, which is why I’m once again insisting that each and every one of us must start paying closer attention to what’s happening in City Hall, because I have this ‘feeling’, there’ve been some really bad choices made which have been either shoved under the ‘carpet’ or wrongly legitimatized. Rest assured, more sooner than later, those unethical entanglements will be revealed.
You may wonder why I make use of the word ‘entanglement’ when speaking about certain happenings or relationships. Well, in my mind, an entanglement is where professional relationships suddenly stop being professional, and there begins a creeping-in and crossing-over into private lives, which can so easily get started, but exceptionally difficult to end, and only because of an entanglement.
Back when I worked in the corporate world, there were stop-gates, along with hard and fast rules where any sort of relationships between employees outside of work, was highly frowned upon, and especially if there was a manager or supervisor crossing over into the ‘personal realm’ of an underling. Yes, and once that ‘buddy’ relationship crossed over into the decision-making and productivity of the company, it became the grounds for dismissal, and believe me, I witnessed it more than once, and unfortunately the guilty parties, after it was too late, found that our corporate doors would also freely swing out.
