Since my early morning appointment was re-scheduled for Monday, I went ahead and changed my clothes and headed outdoors to get some additional yard work done, and since I have a larger than normal yard, the amount of time it takes to do my Fall yard clean-up, is much longer than most would expect.
Unfortunately the wind was blowing pretty darned hard all day, which grew rather annoying when trying to cut back overgrown areas, along with picking up sticks and gathering leaves that had already fallen.
While out working, the gentleman with that pile of ash called, and asked if I had time to go and get it because those vile deer had been in it and likely licking up whatever minerals they were craving, so I stopped what I was doing and headed over with a number of five gallon pails.
When I got there, sure enough those deer had been stomping around in it, so with dustpan in hand, I gathered up all that was there, and by the time I was finished, there were five fully-filled five gallon pails with the prettiest white ash, so I profusely thanked him for the opportunity and headed back home where I placed them in storage for next year’s gardening. I’m pretty sure it’s gonna help in creating another bounteous crop.
Once I had the ash put away, I headed back to my yard work, and by the time I finished up on what I’d set out to do, it was nearing the hour of three, so I called it quits for the day, changed my clothes and headed to office where I had some phone calls to make, and another one to return.
My first phone call was to one of my sellers who’d been wondering how the showings have been on her listing, so I relayed all the comments that were received, along with making a few suggestions on things which could be done to help it sell, so hopefully she’ll go ahead and get them accomplished.
The second call I made, was to a long-time client of mine who’d emailed me some housing plans several days ago and asking my personal opinion on them, and today I gave my take on those plans, so we’ll see where that goes.
Since we’ve had enough showings on 315 Parkridge Drive since it’s been listed and no offers, I called the owner and asked if he’d be willing to reduce the price, and fortunately he agreed to lower it $10K, so once I get a signed price reduction emailed back to me, that home’s new price will be $239,500. Let’s hope that’ll do the trick in getting it under contract. I’m still shocked over it not having sold right out of the gates. For sure, you couldn’t ask for a better location in that price range. We’ll see what this coming week brings.
I later received a call from an out of town seller who’s going to be meeting me this coming Wednesday afternoon to list a home I previewed over a month ago, so hopefully I’ll have it fully listed and posted online before dawn on Thursday. He did agree to list it in the range we’d talked about, so if my comparisons were accurate, it should get sold rather quickly, but only if we still have buyers in that price range. Now that the Holidays are approaching, I’m always a little more anxious about how fast a home will sell during that period.
I had to make a quick trip over to Clear Lake later this afternoon, and while driving over there, I was in shock when seeing all the storage units they’d built just as I was approaching their residential district. That’s the second new build-out I’ve seen of them this past week. My gosh! There must be hundreds of people living in North Iowa who’re loaded up with so much ‘stuff’ that they have to rent storage units. Considering the monthly rent on those things, I dare say I’d rather get rid of my excess instead of forking out that kind of dough every month. Yes, far too many in today’s society are more interested in hanging onto their possessions rather than cultivating relationships, along with doing some long-lasting charity work for our communities.
Unfortunately, I know far too many people who place more value on their ‘stuff’, than they do friends and family, so in the end, I’d personally consider such mindsets, very selfish souls who think their their ‘stuff’ is gonna fill all their metaphysical needs. Oh and don’t even get me started on those who’re paging thru their investment portfolios on a daily basis, as I personally know one who lives out East who has placed her bloated portfolio above God and man, which I find rather disgusting.
Since I supplied St. Paul Lutheran with a plate of carrot cake about three weeks ago, I figured it best I do the same for First Congregational, so I went ahead an dug some fresh carrots out of my organic garden and made a loaf which I cut up and topped with cream cheese frosting. I had a sample of it, and I dare say it should be well received tomorrow morning.
While reflecting on my day, I dare say it was quite delightful, and especially during the time I was outdoors spying the golden leaves and listening to the whispering pines. Every time the wind is blowing hard thru those pine trees, the sound coming from them sounds just like what one would hear on an ocean beach. There’ve been times during the night where that ocean sound coming from those trees, would soon put me fast-asleep. Yes, if only those ancient evergreens could speak, only to share their life stories.
