Another beautiful day arrived with the temps hovering in the upper 50’s early this morning, and since I didn’t have much of anything pressing, I decided to take a drive out in the country to get some additional photos taken which I’m in great need of, as my bank of available ones is running low.

Being the fan I am of bucolic settings, I went a-wandering where most wouldn’t even consider going. I dare say it’s amazing when you get off a blacktop or paved road, and begin driving on the gravels which criss-cross North Iowa. Some of them didn’t appear as if they’re traveled frequently, and mostly because of the many weeds reaching towards their centers. I did manage to get some pretty good shots, so I’ll be sure to share them often.

When I arrived at office, I proceeded to get my morning chores done before I had to head out and get some photos taken of Brandon Neve’s acreage listing which he just got signed up. The acreage is located at 4540 Zinnia Ave., Dougherty, Iowa which is approximately 12 miles east of Rockwell, and the good thing about it, is the fact that it’s only on not even a half mile of gravel. There’s no question whomever buys it, either works out of Rockwell or Rockford because those two town are very close, and especially Rockford. I would also not be surprised if one of that area’s farmers has a son or daughter who is looking for a place of their own nearby.

The acreage plot consists of 2 acres, a two bedroom dwelling, a single garage, and a 60′ x 60′ newer machine shed/workshop which is something I’d give my eye teeth for. I can’t even fathom how much it would cost to build something like it because it has 200 amp wiring, a heat source and much more. The home definitely needs some updating, but in my mind, having an asking price of $199K, you’re basically buying two acres with a monster building, with the house and garage thrown in for good measure. After I gave it a good looking-over and photos taken, I decided the most likely buyer is gonna be one of those area farmers, and believe you me, that area of our County has a large number of farmers with deep pockets. If you click on the above photo, you’ll be triggering a slide-show, so if you happen to know anyone who’s looking for an acreage, have them give either Brandon or myself a call. We’ll have it fully disseminated out into the cyber universe tomorrow morning. One thing I must add, is the fact that we rarely get acreages listed under $200K since our market started spiking after the pandemic began.

While driving back, I decided to take another long stretch of gravel roads, just so I could get a few more photos taken. My goodness! There are some absolutely beautiful areas in the neighborhood of that acreage. There was one particular acreage which had what I believed to be a pyramid home, and since it looked so small, it’s likely a vacation spot for someone. Yes, my morning was definitely fully taken-up with my travels in the countryside.

I was placed on alert again today regarding some mean-spirited actions created by a quadruple of females who seem to have absolutely nothing better to do other than going out and willfully performing acts you’d normally find naughty-monkey middleschool children doing. The most pathetic of it all, is the fact that the youngest in her very late 60’s and the oldest is on a fast track to 80. All I’ve been doing is shaking my head and moving on because it’s gone far beyond the point of being bizarre. Whenever seeing people doing such things to others, I can’t help wondering what if any value they’re giving back to society. Unfortunately, I’d be willing to wager not one of them has even a kernel of community-mindedness in them, and only because it’s all about the next silly episodes they’re about to create. Such happenings is simply a reminder that all old men and women aren’t what they used to be back when I was growing up, and especially today’s distinct lack of decorum. There’s also an 80 year old male who sets back and gets his chuckles whenever they’re sharing their recent escapades. I’m now wondering what their children and grandchildren would think of them if they’d happen to hear and see what they’ve been up to. Whatever happened to setting good examples? Oh, I forgot to mention one of the ‘quads’ has developed a very bad habit of flipping her middle finger at passers-by. Wow, what a sight! I’m sure you can’t wait for the day when you happen to see a gray-haired granny flipping someone off.

The bulk of my afternoon was spent working on a sale file which will be closing this coming Friday, and since both the sellers are in a nursing home, I had to run over and get their signatures on the transfer docs and then place my notary seal on them. I made sure to spend some extra time visiting, and only because far too many of our elderly are being overlooked by the general public which makes me terribly sad.

Before I left, I made a point to stop and see the Executive Officer who just happened to be in his office, just so I could give him an update on the progress of selling the Prairie Place on 1st unit I just listed. We’re both confident it’ll go under contract soon, and especially once our days grow shorter and the night colder. Now who wouldn’t want to be as snug as a bug in Prairie Place on 1st?

I received a very sad and troubling phone call from a long-time friend of mine who lives out east, and the craziest thing about his call, was my having made a point yesterday to call him more sooner than later. Well, for whatever reason, a storage building happened to catch on fire this morning, and even though the Fire Department was called, he took it upon himself to contain the blaze until they got there, and while doing it, he received a first degree burn on his arm and second degree on his face. I feel so terribly sorry for him because I already know the pain that lies ahead. Yes, I’ll be calling him daily.

Tonight’s One-liner is: Some folks are wise and some otherwise.
