A Jump-Off For Hang-Gliders

Another unseasonably warm day arrived, along with the overly-strong winds from yesterday, which had everyone enjoying the outdoors, and from what I’d been noticing out at the front of my office, there are a very many who’re pushing the season after seeing women with tube tops and men with their shirts off as they were sauntering and sometimes, waddling down the sidewalks. I’m personally struggling with getting myself acclimated to this sudden heat, just as I do when the cold arrives in late Fall.

My morning hours were pretty much filled with research and then getting my home sale closed, and fortunately, everything went as well as planned. Since the sellers weren’t in attendance, I had to run over to a bank and deposit a proceeds check into their account. If the buyer does what he says he’s going to do with that home, I dare say in one year, it’ll be almost unrecognizable. I know there’s a new shingle job ordered, and likely in the near future, the house and garage will be painted a more eye-catching color.

By the time I was completely finished-up with that closed file, it was long past Noon, so I grabbed my camera and went out to take photos of a rental belonging to one of my clients who’d asked if I would help get it rented.

Since today was the first time I’d been in the home, I had to get myself more familiar with the house and neighborhood. It sure is compact, but perfect for one or two minimalists. Yes, it’s small, but ready to move right in. What I really liked about it, was it being on a dead-end street with a number of mature trees beyond the fence line, which will offer all the more privacy for whomever rents it. I already have it posted online, so if you know anyone looking for a one bedroom, have them go on my website and take a look at all the photos.

After many weeks of searching, I think I now have an HVAC person who’ll be good to work with, along with charging fair prices, and only because he came highly recommended by someone I trust. I still can’t believe how poorly some of these companies take care of their customers, and then expect to stay in business. When knowing how poorly their services are, there are now four HVAC companies in our City whom I’d never use again, nor refer to anyone asking for reputable names.

I’m continuing to work diligently on getting a sale put together which is slowly moving along, so perhaps I’ll be able to announce something positive tomorrow, and hopefully long before the day is over. I’m confident it’ll come together, and only because I believe it’s the closest ‘fit’ to what my buyer’s been searching for.

Since I had all my office work done, and still being a good hour to kill before it was closing time, I sat down at my office piano and started running thru some secular and religious music, and judging by the way I started out, today’s session was long-overdue.  Isn’t it funny how quickly the days pass, and then suddenly you realize there’d been a portion of your day which you normally had set aside for some sort of on-going project.  Well, after nearly a week without any extended practice, I had to work longer at getting my keyboard skills back up to speed. I’ll have to keep my daily piano practice sessions up, because St. Paul Lutheran wants me to play their piano every time I’m over there.  Since I was randomly paging thru several big books of music, I found pieces I’d nearly forgotten about which I always found moving. When such is out of sight, it soon converts into an out of mind.

When visiting with an associate today, I couldn’t help but internally laugh when being told that there’s been a great deal of sharing on Facebook, a post where someone took a picture of that rented foreman’s trailer parked in a fenced area near the ghost hotel, and saying something like, “Hey! We’ve finally got the hotel they’ve been promising.” Too funny. I just wish they’d all put their big-boy pants on and admit it’s been a big mistake, and then move on.

Another person asked me today, why they built that bridge to nowhere before the hotel was built, and since I remember reading about it, I told her that the reason they did, was because the builder pushed them into it when saying the price of materials are going to be going all the higher, and of course our City fathers took the hook, so now that eye-sore is straddling S. Delaware. Hey, I’ve got an idea. Let’s turn it into a bungee-cord jump, or a jump-off for hang-gliders. Wouldn’t that be a sight? If all else fails, it could be re-purposed as a walkway over S. Washington where The River apartments are, just so those residents can get safely across the Hwy and walk their dogs on that path along Willow Creek. It’s definitely something to think about.

I was glad to see where that young man who’s an online gamer, was arrested for posting that classified information about the war in Ukraine. The more they shared his bio, the more creeped-out I got when thinking about how many thousand others are in those private gaming groups who’re looking for a sick form of notoriety. After having to endure a near decade of harassment, without a doubt, there are far too many people who’re hell-bent on getting attention, and if they can’t get it in a positive way, they’ll turn to the dark side and get it in a negative way.

For the strangest reason, I was thinking about my long-departed mother today, and in my mind I could hear the vocalization of her thoughts about everything that’s happened since death, and believe me, her words were bone-cutting for a number of those nasty creatures who’d gone on the offensive for absolutely no valid reason, other than they knew they could because she was dead, and they were free to say and do as they wanted.

Tonight’s One-liner is: Greed is the lack of confidence of one’s own ability to create.
