Trends To Look For In The Future

It was good I made a point to be at office earlier this morning, because I had a great deal of work to get done, along with following up with escrow companies on sales that’ll be closing this week. What was ended up being the two big irritations of the day, was my not getting a response from three separate emails I sent out over this past week to a closing company, and the fourth one I sent this morning, wasn’t the most pleasant, which finally prompted a response. Oh, if I don’t hate chasing after people to get their jobs done, and only because they soon discover I’m not so sugary and spicy once I’ve gone past my already high level of tolerance.

The second irritation, was being placed on pins and needles on a closing which didn’t get the green light to close until less than an hour before it was to happen. What made it even worse, was that closing having already been postponed from last Friday. I don’t know what it is, but it seems every time I have a real estate transaction that’s got a corporate bank involved, there ends up being a fly in the ointment which usually happens a day or two before the scheduled closing. We did get it closed, but not without a good dose of added stress on everyone’s part. I can now announce the sale of 224 W. Spring St. in Manly is officially closed.

I had a showing this afternoon at 304 N. Fairview in Manly which didn’t go as well as I was hoping, but as chance would have it, I have another showing scheduled with a prospective buyer for Noon tomorrow, so perhaps there’ll be some good interest in it. Unfortunately, too many of our young buyers look at cheap and easy fixes as insurmountable projects, but of course I have to be careful not to be critical of their ignorance. Yes, we all still have the ability to envision, but only if some would flip to ‘ON”, their rusting mental switches.

When I got back to office, I had banking to get done, a run to the post office, and then driving out and placing a sold sign on one of my listings. For whatever reason, I began taking a closer look at homes I was driving past, and the more filthy windows I was seeing, the more I was looking for. I know the winds of this past winter sent a great deal of dirt in the air, but I’m pretty certain the bulk of the windows of those homes which were standing out, likely hadn’t been washed in years. What really gets me, is knowing many of our newer homes, have tilt-in windows which can be washed just about any time it’s above freezing. How lazy is that?

While waiting for a phone call to come in, I happened to notice an article online which was talking about the trends to look for in the future, so I gave it a good read, which contained some good things, along with others being very troubling.

If what I was reading does come to pass, we’re going to have AI involved in just about every aspect of our lives. The author went on to talk about a Bio Revolution which will be arriving soon where with the help of AI, there’ll be more gene-therapy which will take each humans DNA and run it thru a computer, and in the end, those people will be given specific instructions regarding the eating habits they must follow, just to help limit those inherited genetic pre-dispositions which could be life threatening. With such bio-technologies being put to use, will lower the bar by non-invasively dealing with future chronic illnesses. Irregardless of this craze against GMO in our society, there’ll be a great deal more of it being done to help limit the bad effects some foods have on us.

Another trend we’ll be seeing, are the next-gen materials which will be placed into use, and of course those discoveries will also come about thru the aid of AI. One of the discoveries they’ve already made, is graphene, which is composed of a single layer of carbon atoms that are arranged in a honeycomb fashion, which creates a super-thin layer that’s 200 times stronger than steel. Now that’s one heck of a discovery which I’m sure is already being put to use. I can only imagine what other materials that are being created which will be put to use in our construction and fabrication industries.

Among the other trends mentioned, I was not surprised to read where there’ll be a de-globalization taking place where we’ll see four or five distinctly different centers around the globe, which will be geo-political centers for those many millions living in those regions.

I know many are proponents of globalization, but I never have been, and only because I believe it’s partly responsible for creating great poverty for many, and super-wealth for the few. When looking at the containment of wealth in countries like Russia, Saudi Arabia, various African countries, and even here in the United States, you can’t help but step back and see how and why it happened. Many of our not so friendly global leaders, have shown little respect for the European Union, but what I admire about them, is how well they take care of their citizens. Yes, there are some super-wealthy in the EU, but not even in the same solar system as in countries like Russia and those many other totalitarian regimes around the world. Perhaps this is the reason democracy is hated by them so much, and likely because they want to keep yokes around the necks of those they’re controlling. What they fear the most, are uprisings from those who’ve realized there are better lives to be had when looking at how real democracies work.

I always have to laugh whenever someone says something very bad about socialism when knowing Sweden has been a socialist democracy for decades, and everybody’s happy. The Swedes don’t have to worry about health care, retirement or social security because it’s all built into their existing laws. Socialism can be a good thing if it’s properly put to use like the Swedes have done.

Tonight’s One-liner is: There should always be more that unites us, than divides us.
