Beveled Glass and Oodles of Oak

236 - 7th St. NWI will be hosting an public open house on a home that has been a neighborhood eye catcher for many years. Even when I was a young man I admired this home whenever it came into view. If my memory serves me, I believe it was built by one of the downtown business owners. Back in the day when this home was built, it was all about presentation both inside and out. This home was even featured in one of the magazines that write about Craftsman Homes across the United States. All the rooms are larger than what one would expect including the kitchen and bathroom. The kitchen has been updated in a period style as well as the bath. The ceilings are taller than normal which gives the rooms more volume. There are built-ins galore in both the living and dining rooms. One can only imagine all the wonderful holiday meals that were served in that dining room. My favorite room is the large enclosed front porch. I’m just now envisioning long summer nights out there having my evening meal and just relaxing. There is a private patio to the rear and a 3 car garage for the extra garage “stuff” we all seem to have in our possession. If you don’t like coming right in the back door, then you’ll like the roomy back entry that leads up into the kitchen, or down the basement. Thinking forward, the basement could even be turned into a student apartment. The ceilings are tall and the rooms are large. There was a similar home that just closed recently that doesn’t come close to the value this home has. I do hope the word gets out about this beauty because I’m confident it will make someone a very comfortable home that will work for them in the years to come. If you’re into beveled glass and oodles of oak….
