Either Up Or Down

My first duty of the day was to get my new listing at 1551 N. Rhode Island disseminated out into the cyber-universe around the hour of six this morning, and not to my surprise I found that only after about three hours, there was a large number of visits and a handful of ‘saves’ on Zillow, and around Noontime, we already had an inquiry on it from another Realtor, so as of now, there’s one showing scheduled for mid-day tomorrow, so hopefully it’ll meet the buyer’s needs and we’ll have it under contract before the weekend is over.

One of my colleagues stopped by today to visit about that building I have listed at 11 – 15 Second St. NE which centered around the recent discoveries I’d made regarding its original occupants, along with my having opened up one of the interior walls and found the original red brick wall which had never been painted. He did agree that if at least one of the walls was fully stripped of that built-out plastering that was later added, it would definitely be more of a draw for someone wanting to open a deli, coffee shop or even a bistro. I personally enjoy going to eateries where the walls are exhibiting exposed brick or stone that are original to their structures. We must remember, there are at least four thriving businesses in our downtown which have their stone or brick walls exposed. Even Central Park Dentistry has them.

Those tornado alerts I was getting on my phone around the hour of one, had me nearly fit to be tied, and so much so, I actually forgot about a pre-listing appointment I had with some clients. You can be sure I was very embarrassed as soon I picked up a call from the seller asking where I was. When I got there, I had to share why I’m all the more anxious over tornados because when I was young, there was one that did some major damage on our little farm which’d stuck with me ever since. Yes, that was quite the fright at the time.

Upon return to office, I placed a much needed call to another business owner regarding some information I’d found while reviewing an abstract of title. Thank goodness it all turned out to be a good visit to where I’ll be meeting up with that owner over the weekend.

While on the phone, we discussed some of the past and present rules and restrictions our city has made which definitely aren’t in the best interest of those who’re wanting to draw customers to our downtown, and especially this now fully enforced two hour parking which has bristled a great number of shoppers who’d after leaving places of business, found parking tickets on their cars which definitely left long-lasting negative impressions. Well, I managed to get two parking tickets in less that three months, and believe me, I’m now working very hard at not getting another one. I’m still in disbelief those tickets are now twenty bucks each. Wow! I was also warned that if there’s a large Saturday public venue taking place, there’s someone from the city ticketing those who’ve been parked in one spot more than two hours, so don’t think that it’s only enforced Monday thru Friday.

While rummaging thru some left-behind items which had not seen the light of day in years, I came across the above sign which after cleaning it up, prompted me to expand my thoughts on the word ‘elevator’. Ok, I’m sure your first thought when seeing a sign stating ‘elevator’, would be a contraption that would carry you up to another level, right?  Well, when you stop to think about our lives in general, we’re nearly never on the same level we were yesterday, last week, or even last year, so with that said, it’s very important for all of us to be doing some ‘self-checking’, just to make sure we’re moving in an upward direction with our minds, bodies and spirits. With that said, I’m giving you all a little reminder that our elevator of life will carry us either up our down, and unfortunately in these times, I’m noticing more heading down instead of up. How terribly unfortunate.

In spite of getting overly-stressed with today’s storm, it turned out to be quiet the productive day, but I still can’t believe we’re barreling down on another Friday, but at least I’ll be able to chalk it up as another productive week for which I’m both thankful and grateful.

Tonight’s One-liner is: Love in its essence, is spiritual fire.
