My goodness! I couldn’t believe how strong that wind was blowing today and in spite of it being well above freezing, the windchill made it feel far colder. I couldn’t help mentioning to a colleague how much more and stronger we’ve been getting hit by wind, and especially over these past ten to fifteen years. All those nay-sayers saying it’s all part of a cycle, is a whole bunch of hogwash. Oh, and since the Arctic Ocean will soon be navigable year-round, what excuse will such people have for that taking place instead of finally confessing it’s the by-product of global warming and climate change.
Now that our POTUS has come out encouraging America to drill for more oil and mine more coal, we’ll be soon past the point of no return, and when that chain-reaction starts taking place, we’ll all be paying the price for the unbridled greed of a select few.
Having been out in the ‘trenches’ more than usual with our general public, I’m really getting up to speed with the distinct differences of mindsets within that group of people who’re 60+ years old. On one side of the fence, I’ve been finding those who’ve likely inherited suitcases full of cash from their hard-working parents, and spending it on their gated winter homes in the south while being completely mindless to what’s going on in the world around them. So if it doesn’t have anything to do with their ‘rightful’ enjoyment of the good life, then to ‘yell’ with what you have to say because they’re so caught-up in their pathetic pool-side baskings and cocktail parties.
On the flip-side, I’ve encountered those who’ve likely worked for every penny they have while not forgetting about community, social and political issues. One of the ladies I spoke with today happened to be the most delightful, and in spite of being past the 80 year mark, her mind was as sharp as a tack. Just before I’d finished up my conversation with her, I was quick to mention how thankful I was to have the opportunity to cross paths with her. She did mention having crossed paths with a person who shares my last name, but the first name she offered up, didn’t ring a bell with me, but while visiting with her, I discovered be both have the same personal opinions of a few people we both know.
I had to make a quick change of gears with today’s schedule and make time to go and open up three commercial buildings I have listed which were being looked at by a buyer and his agent. By the time we finished with the last one, I dare say there’s some definite interest in one of them, so we’ll see what happens these coming days.
When I returned to office, I discovered an email from an agent who recently sold one of my listings, and in that email was a repair request which was signed by the buyer, and after reading it, I once again shook my head thinking, “Really? You’re not buying a brand new home!” I did forward the request on to the sellers and followed it up with a phone call to one of them. Regardless how big or small those requests are, I leave it completely up to the sellers as to how they want to handle it.
After reading a little of the news today, I was once again convinced there’s absolutely no person in the Executive branch of our Federal Government who has any clue regarding the long-reaching effects there’ll be coming out of all these crazy Executive Orders that are being signed on a daily basis. I think it’ll be a cold day in ‘yell’ before you find me signing my name with a sharpie.
Oh, I almost forget to mention how exceptionally annoyed I was with a certain ‘dame’ I was in conversation with today who’s likely been sipping MAGA Kool-Aid for a very long time. Talk about canned responses and jabbering in circles. Wow! Thank God I’ll not have to listen to that non-sense again. That little visit had such an effect on me to where it resurfaced several times later which prompted me to say to myself, “How did she manage to arrive at that age and still be so stupid?” I dare say she reminded me of one of those characters out of ‘The Stepford Wives’.
Perhaps the memorable highlight of my day, was while in casual conversation on a particular subject with a certain nameless male who’s likely in his 60’s, I added, “A prophet is never a prophet in his own land.”, which is a condensed version of Christ’s teachings and mentioned in both Mark’s and Luke’s Gospels. Believe it or not, I had to explain to him where that came from and what it meant because he’d never before heard it said. Gee, I guess I’m going to have be all the more selective when converting thoughts to words.
Tonight’s One-liner is: The world will not be destroyed by those who do evil, but by those who watch them without doing anything.
