It turned out to be a slightly abnormal Sunday of Palms with some extra duties I’d agreed to take on, but all in all, it was for the best because I believe we all need to start expanding our horizons a little bit more instead of continuing to plow in the same furrow every day of our lives, and the most unfortunate thing about it, most don’t even realize they’re doing it.
My first duty on this particular day, was to get my spiritual regimen completed, and today’s was just a little bit more memorable because I considered myself to have gone a tad bit deeper during my contemplative session. I know I’ve mentioned this more than once, but I’ll insist once again that I’m of the firm belief that if covid hadn’t shut down our churches, I wouldn’t have been inspired to get back into something I’d fallen away from a very many years ago. So there you are, good things do come from bad as long as we look and reach for them.
My Noon appointment to show a home went quite well, and luckily I was there with my buyers to point out not just the good things, but also those that’ll be needing attention, and since the home happens to be located near a body of water, I couldn’t help making personal comments about it. Yes, I really am a push-over when it comes to natural bodies of water. I know I’ve mentioned before how much more I rather live on a river instead of a lake, because I believe there’s something far more special about the continuous flowing of water.
The bulk of my afternoon was spent diligently working on the project I was handed, and after about four hours, I finally had to call it quits for the day, but at least I managed to get more accomplished than I’d expected, so after today, I believe it’ll be a downhill slide. I know the person who gave me the project, will be shocked when seeing how much I’d done. Well, if you agree to do a job, then do it well. Right?
The highlight of my day, was having the opportunity to cross paths with a native son who happened to recently write a book, and since I was a casual follower of the various articles he’d published over the years, he freely and willingly grabbed one of his new books which he just happened to have on hand, wrote a small note on the inside cover, and then handed it to me as a gift. I was nearly speechless. For sure after I finish the book I’m now casually reading, I’ll definitely give it a good read. What’ll be the most interesting, is the fact that it was written by someone who grew up in Mason City, so I’m sure there’ll be some tidbits about our fair city thrown in the mix.
I also had an opportunity to visit with a woman I’ve known for many years who’s very much in the know regarding things that take place on the back end of celebrations and public gatherings. My gosh, I sure got an earful regarding those who come off as being so ‘gifted’ with their professions to where they’re charging exorbitant amounts of money for their services. It’s a good thing I’m not in that particular circle of society which aligns itself with people who’ve built up these grand illusions of success, just to make themselves worthy to charge far more than the average. Not so many months ago, someone called and started raving about a so-called professional who was the best of the best to be had in North Iowa, but after I later did some deed investigating, it ended up being nothing more than smoke and mirrors. Just remember, talk is cheap, but actions speak.
After having a few moments to reflect on the many tumultuous happenings which had taken place since April of 2016, I soon realized how much adversity I’ve have to endure and subsequently adapt to, which left me believing that no matter what hardships are thrown our way, the key to getting past it all, is knowing one’s self and never wavering from hard-coded standards we’ve set for ourselves. Yes, the workings of the evil ones are out there working 24/7 at getting us to cave, just so our hard fought gintegrities/standards are compromised.
Speaking of integrity, I dare say there’s not one appointed person in our Executive branches of government who has even an ounce of integrity, and only because they’ve all sold their souls to be in the limelight of power and control. Thank goodness the quiet majority is finally beginning to wake up to what’s happening and making their voices heard.
Tonight’s One-liner is: If you have integrity, nothing else matters, but if you don’t have integrity, nothing else matters.
