Their Game’s Are The Same

Another chilly and overcast day arrived, and unfortunately I didn’t put on enough warm clothes, so I wasn’t the most comfortable while outdoors today. In spite of it being the tenth of April, it sure feels more like March.

My morning was pretty much taken up with getting appointments set up for afternoon showings, and then heading out to a closing company to get my listing over at 113 N. Hawkeye closed-out. Yes, everything went as well as expected, and for the first time, I managed to meet the selling agent in person. With all this online business going on, I think we as Realtors are going to be seeing more of this taking place, which is definitely a by-product of both the pandemic and computerization. It’s no wonder I find in-person meetings with people a bit awkward on their part, and especially with the younger crowd. It’s not uncommon to find many of them with their arms and legs crossed which is oft-times considered a protective/defensive mode.

Well, well, well, I guess what I was talking about last night regarding the possibility of there being insider trading with stock options, appears to have been a spot-on assessment because I read this morning where there was an unusually high number of options taking place in the time frame between when our POTUS tweeting “Now’s the time to buy stock”, and when he came out and announced his lifting and postponing of the tariffs he placed on all those countries. My gosh! I sure hope there’s someone left in our government who can dig deep enough and find out if there was indeed insider trading going on, and if there was, they need to be charged and punished for what they did.  I believe from the time we humans fell out of the trees, there’ve always be those who’d be looking for ways to enrich themselves in bad ways, and unfortunately, their names change, but their game’s are the same. As I’ve said before, I’ll never understand why people don’t want to build wealth the old-fashioned way, by simply going out and honestly earning it.

It looks like our not so bright Vice President J. D. Vance managed to create another firestorm by referring to Chinese workers as peasants, which ended up going viral on those strictly controlled Chinese media outlets. I’m now beginning to wonder if he’s really that socially ignorant, or if he’s truly got some sort of hidden agenda with his bashing of the European Union’s form of government, and now the average workers in China. After someone pointed out that Vance is now using mascara and possibly eye-liner as well, and likely only to enhance his blue eyes, I’m sure he’ll be getting some ridicule over that. Perhaps he’s wanting to appear more pleasing to the ‘eye’ of our general public. I personally find his looks more on the creepy side.

After visiting with a long-term client of mine today who was in need of some technical work done, I agreed to take on the project, and only because I’d be able to get the job completed in far less time and little trouble. It’ll actually be a good work-out for me because it’s been a while since I’ve done something in that area of expertise. Yes, we all need to keep challenging out minds, just so we can keep the wheels turning, while reminding myself that a friend in need, is a friend indeed.

My afternoon was fully consumed with the showing of two homes, then running over to Nora Springs to pick up my sold sign, and then on to another small town to meet buyers for their final walk-thru on the property they’ll be closing on tomorrow morning. It was a good thing I stopped at the gas station yesterday because I’ve been putting on the miles.

I guess the most jaw-dropping for me today, was watching a short video of Karoline Leavitt who’s the White House Press Secretary, doubling-down with her insistence that tariffs will not affect the general public, and then later kicking back at the reporter who was questioning her by telling him she felt insulted by his questioning her understanding of economics. After watching that, I dare say she’ll go down in history as being the most ignorant as well as combative press secretary for the White House.

Tonight’s One-liner is: Progress is impossible without change, and those who cannot change their minds, cannot change anything.
