Watching For Water Towers

Another Sunday morning arrived with my first duty of the day being a straight-away heading to my darkened corner to get my contemplative prayer session started, and since it was an even more quiet morning in our downtown, I was able to get settled-in all the quicker. For whatever reason, my prayers for those on my prayer-chain were more spiritually intense, so perhaps all of them had some positive reactions to them. Some weeks ago, someone asked if I keep the same people on my ‘chain’, and my response was, “Nearly all of them are still there with the exception of two very naughty monkeys who took it upon themselves to use and abuse me, and only because of their deep jealousies and toxic chronic/depressive natures, because this loving one’s neighbor has definitely got its limits.” Way back when I dropped the first one off, I had several pangs of guilt, but soon came to understand the extent of the evil that bitty sent in my direction, so those feelings were quickly and fully dismissed forevermore. Would any of you even think about praying for the devil? So, there you are.

Once my session was over, I changed into my work clothes and headed out to get some more work done on my project, but before leaving, I sat down and caught myself up on the news feeds, and the most interesting one, was about the fall of Assad’s regime. Yeah! That Assad family has had an evil iron grip on Syria for the past 60 years, so I believe that family’s ‘de-throning’ was long overdue.

I did later read where Putin so graciously invited Assad and his family to Russia where they will be given political asylum, which came as no surprise because as we all know, like attracts like in more ways than one. The Russian media also went on to say that their bases in Syria will likely remain intact once the dust settles. Do you think? Wow, how stupid can they be when knowing it was their planes and bombs that killed thousands of innocent Syrians. You can be sure the Syrians will not forget that Putin and his military is what kept Assad in power for an extra 13 years. I’m sure many of those Syrian war refugees who went to Europe, will most likely be re-locating back to Syria, which should help dampen the right-wing unrest that’s growing in the European countries.

It couldn’t have been a better day for me to spend a good eight hours working over at my project, and by the time I called it quits, I looked back and said to myself, “You’re definitely heading down the home stretch.” My goodness, you have no idea how happy I’ll be when that daunting project is over.

There were several calls that came in while I was working, and one of them was an agent wanting to show my listing over at 113 N. Hawkeye in Nora Springs this evening, so I got it all set up. Let’s hope that agent’s buyers fall in love with it. The 15 year interest rates have dropped below six percent, which should spur some additional home-buying.

Before heading home, I happened to notice a number of cars in our downtown, and from the looks of it, many of them belonged to those enjoying a evening out at Fat Hill Brewery. I have to admit, they definitely do draw a crowd, and from the interior photos I’ve seen, their ‘pub’ setting is quite attractive. I understand they do have live music sometimes, along with serving some ‘eats’ which include pizza.

When reading and hearing the planned Federal Government shake-up ‘D.T.’ and his appointees are planning, I dare say, in not so far into the future, our general public’s discretionary income will be rapidly evaporating. Oh, but keep in mind, all those millionaires and billionaires who helped him get elected, will definitely be sailing free because I wouldn’t be surprised if the corporate income taxes are lowered even farther, which I consider absolute insanity. Those prosperous Scandinavian countries have much higher corporate taxes, and still doing just fine. But, there’s also a remarkably big difference in the pay their CEO’s and upper managements knock down each year compared to those in Corporate America, which in my mind, is the way it should be.

If you go on Yahoo Fiance and look at the profiles of various corporations, you’ll soon come to understand that those people are making far too much money for what they do. Even right here in River City, we have a dozen or so people who’re making way too much money for what jobs require, and not to mention all the ‘bennies’ they’re being given like health and dental insurance, along with hefty contributions to their IPERS retirement accounts. Just remember, our city’s population is well below 30K, so why are they getting paid so much for performing average 9 – 5 jobs, five days a week? Oh that’s right, because they asked, and our City Council granted them their bloated salaries.

I thought it time I start sharing the photos I took on Thanksgiving while I was out watching for water towers as I was driving in one big circle in Western Iowa, so I’m now offering up the first one.

Tonight’s One-liner is: We humans can’t seem to stop sweating over superfluous things.
