In Less Than Four Hours

Because of our soil being so hard and dry, much of the rainwater was running off instead of soaking in, and it was certainly visible when I parked in front of my office early this morning, and when I looking across the street, I could see there’d been a ‘river’ of mud that had washed off of the Kirk Apartment site, and ran down the sidewalk, over the curb, and into a storm sewer. I dare say they’re likely going to have to re-seed that area again.

Once I had my contemplative session finished, I headed over to First Congregational Church, just so I could get some practicing in before their Service started, and much-needed because I hadn’t been over there for close to a month. Fortunately it didn’t take me long to get re-acquainted with that beautiful instrument. With the exception of the number of ranks Trinity Lutheran’s organ has, I dare say their organ has the most beautiful sound. I was blushing once again when they started clapping after I played several preludes. With all things considered, I believe my keyboard skills on it were the best thus far. Even the visiting Pastor came up to me and mentioned how much she appreciated having organ music this morning. She really did a nice delivering of a memorable homily.

As soon as I left, I headed back to office, changed my clothes, and proceeded to get some strawberries picked, and wouldn’t you know, when I got there, I found another naughty raccoon in a live-trap, but what I found the most concerning, was there must’ve been another raccoon there which was trying to help dig it out of its predicament, which means there’s even more of them. Ugh! Oh well, I’ll just have to continue setting out traps for them until there’ll be no more eating my strawberries in the night. From what I’ve been recently reading, our wildlife is becoming all the more semi-domesticated, and speaking of domesticated animals, early this morning I happened to read the headlines of an article I’ll have to search for which said something like, “Our human race is devolving into domesticated animals.” For sure that’ll be worth the read, and likely filled with many truths nobody wants to talk about. Ouch.

Just as I was getting ready to go do some work over at my little/big project, a seller called and said she was ready to list her home, so back to office I headed to get changed into my street clothes, and less that two hours later, I had it under contract, but prior to heading over to the house, I called one of the buyers I’ve been working with, just to let her know I was going to be listing a home in her price range this afternoon, and as chance would have it, she had some free time this afternoon to view it.

Only minutes after the seller left, the buyer and family members showed up, and given the circumstances of how quickly the lower-priced homes have been selling, I made sure they took all the time they needed to give it a good looking-over which took up a good hour and a half, but just before we left, she announced it would work for her, so we agreed to meet back at my office. Dispensing with all the details, I can proudly announce that I managed to get a home listed and sold in less than four hours. As I was driving home, I decided this whole listing and selling today, was a Divine Intervention, because it became a win-win situation for both the buyer and seller.

I did get caught up on all the online commentaries regarding the happenings in Russia yesterday, and nearly all of them said that yesterday’s episode is the beginning of the end for Putin, and likely so because they were drawing similarities with what had happened with two of his immediate predecessors. Yes, now that his weaknesses have been revealed, the Russian people will no longer consider him god-like. Let’s hope he more sooner than later, gets everything he deserves.

Lastly, if you’re looking for some really good deals on flowers, shrubs and veggies, stop over to Hy-Vee Drug because they’re selling everything at half-price, and even less on the veggies. Since I lost several sweet pepper plants, I purchased two healthy ones for fifty cents a piece. Now that was a deal.

Tonight’s One-liner is: Resentment is like drinking poison and waiting for the other person to die.
