Just Do It!

Endless hours and days are spent at times listening to people who say they want this or that done, or they are planning on doing something but there is always some flimsy reason why they don’t. Perhaps it’s a sign of the times. The number of hours spent in debate could have been time spent towards getting a project completed. I had an appointment to show a home several days ago and arrived before the buyers. I opened the house and turned on a few lights. While waiting for the buyers, I looked out the front window of the house and noticed people outside of at least four homes within eyeshot either sitting around their front porches or standing around jabbering.

I’m glad I couldn’t hear some of the conversations because I likely would have blushed. Oh my goodness! When I saw the condition of their front yards, I thought to myself, “Hmmm…How much pride do you take in yourself and your home?” Their yards were strewn with convenience store plastic cups, lids and straws, weeds nearly knee high and vehicles parked on grassy areas. For a moment I pondered, “Is this what our beloved city is becoming?” I know I am a bit more particular than most but I can’t help but consider what must go through the minds of people when they are living is such disfunction. Homes should be considered more as sanctuaries where everything has its place for reasons like comfort and nurture. The world is far more complicated as well as challenging, so why don’t people attempt to create places where there is harmony? The amount of stress that lives in our lives must be counter-balanced by comfort—if we don’t have it, our cores begin to wear away and we then find that we don’t even know who we are and what we stand for.

So the next time you see something that you know needs to be done at your home, don’t wait or debate, just do it!
